I love me some excessively-whiny, excuse-conjuring, trash-talking American voices after I tear a hole in their squad. :D

I love how no one argues with American stereo-types, but anyway it think that would be an op ability if included. Its not currently an ability as far as i know but that would be cool !

I don't think it works in team modes, personally.

Only like prox chat in FFA, and Brink doesn't do FFA (unless you set up a 1 vs. 1 match, in which case, having full voice chat with your opponent would be preferred)

SP decided people are too annoying, but you can turn on VoIP if you like. no proximity chat.

You can not hear the enemy team's VoIP. This has been confirmed.

Actually, it sounds more like: VoIP is disabled by default in the first Rank, available for fireteams in the second and available for all in another upper Rank.

They mentioned it in at least one of the PAX East interviews.

Unlocking the use of VoIP is very intriguing... it might be good, to force players to get fully acquainted with the in-game chat or objective system before they start talking over it.

Although I'll probably be using Mumble anyway, so it's irrelevant. ^_^

Brink allows players to talk to each other via mic if tehy are registered friends o nteh console friends list. If not registered then at Rank 4 (not sure level) talking via mic is accessable. Im not sure if this is friends only or evey team mate.

Personally i like the system but if it turns out i need to be rank 4 to talk to my friends than im on ice right their. And i always imagined an ability were you ould hack into the enemy teams mic...dreams

If theyr your friends why would you even bother with ingame voip? On Pc you got various programs for it. On xbox you can use party. And Im assuming Ps3 has a similar possibilities? (don't play much ps3, silly girly controller :) )

While we're stereotyping, I hope that there is a Canadian accent in the game that is the same as the American one but with "eh" peppered in the dialogue. And also I hope the Jamaican accent says "mon" at the end of each sentence. "They're hackin' our command post, mon!" :hubbahubba:

Don't care for proxy chat for the exact reason people want it. Trash talking is the most basic of immature behaviors, and while some people can manage to do it with some sense of civility and humor, most cannot.

I don't want or need to hear how awesome you think you are because you pressed a button and twiddled your thumbs well enough to kill me, particularly when I killed you the last eleven times we ran into each other. Nor do I want to hear how "cheap" I am because I shot you in the back because you happened to be facing the other way, I don't plan on whistling to get your attention next time either. Nor do I want to know what you think about my "mama" or my sister, brother, father, or dog. Keep it to yourself.

And sure I don't mind when you give away your position, but I would still rather not have to hear the conversation you're having with the person in the room with you, or the person on the phone with you, or what you like listening to, or what it sounds like when you eat.

I'm not meaning "it doesn't work" in the sense that you can't do it.

I mean that I don't think it's a very good feature in team games - it distracts from the "coordinating with teammates" side of things.

I'm not saying that every American does, I'm just saying when I hear anything, it's exactly that. And I still love it. :D

Proximity chat is an awesome feature in my opinion. There's just something more fun about knowing when you and a buddy go off on your own that your really ON YOUR OWN.

You can't call for backup. You can't call out enemy positions. It adds a different dynamic. I would love to see an option for this. Proximity chat is one of those things that is extremely easy to program and can be made into an option that can be toggled on/off.

As long as the American one has "huh", "y'all" or "y'know" peppered throughout then I'm perfectly fine with that.

Seconded.

And I also hope that the American/Canadian accents are both done by the same guy, and you can tell he's British and faking the accent... badly.
