PC

He asked a question between either a PS3 or the Xbox 360. PC was not included.

Between those two, I'd go with the PS3. Free internet gameplay is a major factor. I also prefer the games on the PS3 (though exclusivity is becoming a thing of the past). You get games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Demon's Souls, Resistance 1, 2 (And 3 pretty soon).

I have both consoles, and both have impressive titles in my opinion. But as of late I have become more of a PS3 fan boy, mainly because of the Move.

The PS3 Move is far superior to the 360 Kinect in my opinion.

But I like the 360 controller over the PS3 controller.

And Multiplayer-wise, PSN is free, Xbox Live isn't.

PS3. But to keep the topic civil, I will refrain from explaining why.

In terms of graphics? They're pretty much identical.

I'd go for a midrange PC, it'll run you about $500 and you can max out almost everything ever at higher resolutions than either console. But if you're putting a gun to my head and saying choose, I'll go with a PS3, simply because sony don't seem determined to overcharge you for absolutely everything you can do, and there are more exclusives coming out in the next year for the PS3. Other than that, there's no real technical difference between the two.

PS3, for the typical reasons.

Blu-Ray, free PSN with optional paid for certain exclusives, the exclusive titles are also infinitely better than the ones on the XBox 360. As for graphics, the XBox games are usually better looking when the game is for both consoles. But when it's a PS3 exclusive, the graphics are usually incredible.

I own both consoles, and I haven't touched by XBox in months.

I can't honestly say which one is better since I only own a PS3, but I do have reasons for picking it over the Xbox 360. Firstly, my first console was the playstation, so the controller just feels right, while the Xbox controller feels clunky and uncomfortable in my hands. Secondly, the exclusives. Many people say the Xbox beats the PS3 in exclusive games, but when listing PS3 exclusives they always miss ones like LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted (one of my favourites), Killzone, and Demon Soul's. Next, the PS3 has blue-ray, which isn't a big deal, but I now own many Blue-rays, so I wouldn't be able to play them without my PS3 (as I don't plan to buy a blue-ray player). Finally, the online is free! In terms of graphics and gameplay, the consoles are about the same.

Ps3. PSN is free, superior hardware, Blu-ray, and, in my opinion, much better exclusives.

I have both but prefer the 360. Sure you have to pay for the online, but as with the age old quest for a good free MMO you simply have to pick one: Free or good. I choose good. :P

I don't mean to start a console war here, but how is XBL any better than PSN? This is a common pro-360 argument, but I've never understood it. I've used both and there's absolutely no difference. Could you enlighten me?

Multiplatform games always look better on the 360 from what I've seen but the PS3's exclusives look a lot better than 360's.

Social features really. In practice, PSN and XBL systems are similar, if not exactly alike. The difference is the speed, accessibility of features (I.E. long load time for Trophy list vs Achievement list, friends list accessibility etc) and the aforementioned social features, such as cross game voice chat and XBL parties.

Sure, you'll still get into a match of Call of Duty just as easy on both consoles, but the 360 has more features outside of just placing you into a game. ;)

But this is the only difference, isn't it?

Sure, it's nice, but is it really worth paying for?

I own a gaming PC so therefore PS3 is much better for me because it offers me more exclusives.

If you have friends, yes. Five bucks a month is well worth it to escape from all the obnoxious people who play online games, specifically shooters. It's also really useful when playing with said friends as you don't have to yell just to be heard over the kid on your team singing Justin Bieber through his mic. :P

Sure you could just mute him, but it's much easier to just start a party. That way you don't have to take the time to mute everyone in the lobby.

PC for me. Though if I have to choose between the two consoles it is a tough choice. The way I use consoles (for the most part) is just for a media streaming client from my home server. But I do play some games on the consoles if they are not supported on the PC.

They are about the same hardware wise (except for one major difference which I will get to later)
Xbox: Usually better games when talking about multiplatform games. More people I know play on the Xbox.
PS3: This gets my vote for a better media client since it has a built in 1Gbps Ethernet connection, while the Xbox only has a 100Mbps connection.

Overall I would have to say Xbox for me. Though a PC would be my first choice.

You should look at the games you like? On which console are they?

And you should consider if you want a blue ray player.
You can also stream videos from your PC or a media server to your PS3, but I guess the 360 can do this too, I'm not sure though.

It was a very hard decision for me, but I took the PS3. My main argument was the Blue Ray player and the media server connection.
And I'm quite satisfied with the console. Nice piece of hardware.

I own both, and play the 360 more, there is getting to be more really good games for ps3 now, but I like the 360 controller better.. Now that dves are really figuring out the ps3, I think it may edge out the 360 barely in terms of graphics, but both are really similar..

The updates on ps3 are what kill it for me, on 360 it take seconds usually, where the ps3 can take up to an hour sometimes which is super frustrating, especially if the ps3 has not been turned on for a while , like a couple months or so.

You really can't go wrong either way tho, thery are both good, and now have a ton of games each

The only thing that nods me towards Xbox was that I've been with it for so long (since the year the first Xbox came out) and I like the controller much, much better. But that's about it. In the end I don't really care what I play on.

And the 50 (or is it 60 now) dollars for online isn't to bad. It's just 50. I also find it odd that people will pay $15 a MONTH for a game like WoW but complain for the $5 dollar a month Xbox Live.

As for graphics. I don't see the difference. It really depends on your tv.

I noticed that... we were at my uncles and we were going to check out his progress on F:NV, but their happened to be an update... it was taking awhile so I went an got me xbox out of the car and hooked it up and had the update downloaded before him... it was odd.

I guess thats another thing that pushes me towards Xbox. I also like the dashboard on the Xbox, it odd, but I just like it better than the PS3, its more... comforting, I don't know how to explain it.

It's interesting to see the different tastes with the controllers.
Maybe I'm just biased because I had a PS and PS2 and so I'm accustomed to the PS controllers but I though nobody would like the XBOX controller when it came out ;).
It seems I was utterly wrong.

So, the controller is also an argument which console to buy.

I grew up on the PS1 and 2 controller, after switching to the first Xbox controller it felt kinda weird, fat, and clumsy, but once I got used to it felt better. I think the perfected it with they 360 controller.

The issue for me is ideological, not practical. It's charging you $50 for a service that effectively costs them nothing, *and* they advertise on it, *and* they still don't allow any free content on it. It may only be $50, but it's a $50 that I cannot justify them charging for - it's pure profit.

See my previous posts please. There are features that come with Xbox Live that the PSN doesn't offer. :)

I bought a 360 because I previously owned an Xbox and was familiar with its titles and controller style. The left and right bumpers took some time to adjust to, if I remember correctly.

I think the biggest reason I bought a 360 is the fact that Oblivion was released on it. I didn't have a computer that could run it at the time.
