We have received word that Sony are hard at work getting the Playstation Network back up and are actually undergoing upgrading the Playstation Network servers to the new NGP XMB experience interface, forcing delaying PSN to go under maintenance while batting the outage but should be ready by this weekend if were lucky

We finally have some good news for PS3 users who are dying to get online again on their systems, as it looks as if Sony has inadvertently confirmed that the PlayStation Network will be back online by the weekend at the very latest.
Sony has been talking in a blog post about their plans to compensate players of PS3 MMO DC Universe Online and revealed that they will be holding something known as a 'double station cash day' for players on April 30th - this coming Saturday, as reported from Eurogamer.
This information was revealed by SOE director of community relations Linda Carlson, as she added below:
"To thank players for their patience, and we will be hosting special events this weekend across our game portfolio, including a Double Station Cash day on Saturday, April 30th. We are also working on a 'make good' plan for players of the PS3 versions of DC Universe Online and Free Realms."
You can read that information on the official DC Universe Forums here, hopefully Sony will confirm on the official PlayStation Blogs that the service will indeed be resumed by the weekend. Let us know your thoughts on this - are you looking forward to playing PS3 online again?

Well, that's certainly one stone for two birds. anolysis of the intrusion and doing the upgrades they'd have to have done anyway. If that's not just a rumour, of course.

I was really hoping they'd drop that awful interface for the PSP2, not introduce it to more systems.

Cool, I like that they're actually giving us something in return for having to go through this. And a new interface sounds pretty cool

Nothing, I love the XMB. Simple, organized, gets the job done. Bringing http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2011/01/xmb.jpg monstrosity to the PS3 is what I was referring to. It looks as though it was designed around the PSP2's touchscreen interface. Also looks kinda cheap in my humble opinion.

Please tell me that's not coming to the PS3. Where's the video icon? The music icon?

I really don't think they'd use the same layout for the PS3. Also, I highly doubt that this rumour is true now - no other page has reported this, and the NGP does not have the XMB at all, so nobody would talk about an "NGP XMB".

First they stick us a needle and then they give us candy to keep us happy. The needle sting really hurt...
