PS3 Brink Tournament !

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 4:20 am

Hi All

For those of you ready for some team play on PS3, I’m setting up a tournament xD

Here are the details:

Competition Mode (5 v 5)

Stopwatch (Team who makes most progress wins)

If both teams finish the game without completing the same objective,
progress will be decided numerically on hacks, repairs, and by
distance on escort missions. If the match is tied because neither
side was able to set an explosive, then the match is replayed.

The number of rounds of the tournament depends on how many teams sign
up. As of now, the maps which will be played are:

1st round: Aquarium
2nd round: Security Tower
3rd round: Refuel

The maps are not set in stone. If you give me feedback, we can adjust
them. As for the rules (competition mode), we want to keep things
simple and clean with no honor system regarding banned abilities, etc.

The matches will be held from June 10 - June 12. Specific times and
dates will be decided later.

If you’re interested, get a team of 5 players ready, and message/add
me or Tango on PSN. Our PSN ID's are:

M82-xVoodoox
M82-Tango

Good luck! Reactor is a very balanced map for a tournament, I think. Rather than Refuel.

I would would like to join, but unfortanatly I don,t any luck of me making a team of 5 and also I don't know what I'll be doing on the 10th

also P.S. what time zone are you planning this on and also i think you should make a type of "makeshift" team for single indivuals like me (just a suggestion)

Someone should totally do a CCity only tournament...

More seriously, though, I'm not competitive enough (translation: Not good enough at the game) to enter a tournament unless I'm pushed by good teammates who can cover my back (translation: fix my mistakes), but I'd say Reactor is probably more balanced than Refuel as well.

Hopefully there will be some other teamless individuals who will post in this thread - and you can form a team with them. :)

I suggested Refuel for the reason that it is easier to make some sort of progress, and thus, possibly more interesting in Stopwatch. Reactor may be easier to actually complete until finish (as it only has 2 objectives), but the thing I worry about is that it is also easier to be held on the very first objective...which wouldn't be very interesting. I think that with Refuel, its not likely that a team will be held on the first objective. They might be held on the second objective, or on any of the later objectives...but there is no single objective that is extremely difficult to complete.

But feel free to express your opinion, and we will try to accommodate the popular opinion.

This sounds great, I would love to partake in a tournament for Brink!!!
Just curious what time zone the Host/Hosts would be in.
Though I guess with multiple teams of 5 we wouldn't be quite sure...
I'm just a little worried about lag...
If possible I'd like to avoid it... :ahhh:

Hosts will depend on the teams playing each other. Hopefully the teams will be able to work that out in warmup :)

Another way to find members to team up with is through the Unofficial Brink Chat. Add me on PSN and I'll pass it on.

Host will be a big issue.

Played with you guys and ended with a lagging spree D: If the tournies end up like that.... ARG

Is there a possibility to have a spectator watching the tournie? He/she could be the recorder. His main goal is to host the game. The host with the best connection stays in spectator should every member on the teams fail to provide an adequate internet connection.

Getting pwned by the other team simply because they have a superior connection... horrible.

Please use this site to compare for a proper host during the tournie.

Also, is the tournie bound by the same rules as the PC ones?

No hackbox removal/no Adrenaline?

Thanks for the link. I'll see if we can gather some hosts.

De-hacking and adrenaline are both allowed. No honor rules. We want it to be simple and easy for people to understand. And we want to test the changes SD has made to de-hack times. If there are problems, we will adjust in the next tournament.

The lag was do to the original host in the game earlier. Every one of us was lagging the whole game.

Nothing has been decided about times yet - only the range of days it will span.

We'll get around to times in the next couple of days.

What is the deadline for inclusion and will it be by private match?
Also, what will be the general time?

Try to have your team together by the 8th. It will be by private match, just so nobody unexpected joins.

On the 9th, when everyone learns who their matchup will be, the two teams can try to schedule a time that is good for both of them.

If someone on your team is unable to show up, then it is OK to get a replacement.

As for hosting, I don't know how the system works on PS3. I don't know how you can make a certain person host, or how you can know who the host is...as I think the system just picks the person with the best connection.

Whoever makes the game is the host. Once that person leaves the host is reassigned. "Migrating Host" shows up on everyones screen. At that point I am assuming the player with the best connection is choosen.

So maybe the person with a bad connection should make the room, and then leave once everyone is in. Then rejoin.

(I say the person with a bad connection, because they wouldn't be chosen as host anyway.)
