PS3 Cheats

Post » Tue Mar 02, 2010 11:23 am

I know that the pc has the console command and that gamesas have to make cheats for Fallout 3 conoles when showing beta gameplay. Why not let the cheats stick to the game in the option menus instead of locking them or deleting them. There should be cheats for my ps3, why do they allow the pc to have console commands?

to put things simply, the console for PC games is really a developers tool, its used to test the game out, and just work with it, since the game has to go through computers before it hits consoles, it really wouldnt make much sense to have a developer's tool on a console game.

why not have cheats in fallout? it simply is the developer's choice. nothing more or less. if difficulty is what youre after, they let you change the difficulty in the menu.

That not fair, so the pc gets a advantage over the consoles, why should anyone buy a console version if the pc is better.

that is not true entirely, PC is much more expensive, much more work, and isnt always guaranteed to work, its not like not having the console is a bad thing, really. i think you should be more concerned about the Million and a half problems that Fallout 3 brings to the PS3, GOTY or not.

have you used the console much for Fallout 3 though?

I feel ya, man. I'm on PS3 too.

But I think I see why there's no cheats besides bugs for the consoles. As many cheats on this genereation of console cancel out trophies/acheivments, they didn't want people putting in 40+ hours of hardship down the toilet because they activated a cheat. If they did, these boards, along with many others, would probably be filled with a bunch of threads about how Beth is screwing people over by not allowing trophy/acheivment clearance with cheats and how they hate the game, or how the franchise went downhill.
It does kinda svck not having cheats to play around with, but, at the end of the day...Isn't the game itself 50 times more amusing. :fallout:

I'm currently on the grind to get a non-cheat "God-mode" going.

Just stick to books and try not to power level. :grad:

Good point... why would anyone buy it for anything except the PC?

/PC elitism

But really, console developers don't care that much about giving their gamers the freedom to mod, use the console, etc. I don't know why, a game you can mod usually stays alive much longer than one you can't, but it's the developer's and company's choice.

Yes, it kind of svcks that the "console" commands do not work on the X360 or PS3 gaming consoles, especially considering that "cheat codes" have been prevalent since the NES console gaming days, perhaps even before...

There are various glitches you can exploit on the PS3 and the X360 however such as:

  • This one is more of an exploit than a glitch, but you can take advantage of the conversion ratio of any ammo to 5mm once you have access to the ammo press in the Pitt and basically use 5mm ammo for trading caps and other goods with merchants.
  • A Merchant trading glitch using items in different states of repair that will get you rolling in caps and goods
  • Alien Power Cell "farming" glitch that will allow you to slowly replenish your formerly "non renewable" APC stock
  • A Scrap Metal glitch can be used to essentially get you from level 2 to level 20 or 30 if you have Broken Steel in a single gaming session if you are so inclined via Walter. You can also quickly get caps or positive karma after you hit the level cap using the same glitch
  • The Scrap Metal glitch can also be used to trade scrap metal infinitely with Casdin and Winthrop for various supplies
  • A glitch with RL-3 that will allow you to recruit all 7 of the "Permanent" followers (Dogmeat, Charon, Clover, Jericho, Butch, RL-3, Fawkes, Star Paladin Cross) plus a handful of temporary followers (such as Sydney, Red, Sticky and Shorty) if you want to...

A few of the above mentioned exploits can be found here:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3_exploits

I suppose I can update the wiki with whatever is missing when I get free time, but if you need the info right now a quick search on google or youtube will get ya going... =p

But yeah, with that stuff alone you can really go overkill with the cheating, even on a console... ;)

Like said earlier. They're not "cheats" they are developers tools.
For example the "tfc" releases the camera from your body, and can be used with the "tm" command (which gets rid of the menus) to take really nice screenshots.

Although, yes, there are commands to acquire any item in the game, and also make you invincible, a lot of players ONLY use these when making videos.

I think your Are confused about what console command is for .. .. PC have this for A reason. All PCs are diffrent .. & due too this fact, it is their too fix things. The 360 runs same on all 360s .. same for PS3.. As for PCs their are so many Diffrent parts/brands and drivers .. it is A Bitc# too get every combination too work right and the console commands can be used too fix problems ect. ... Now you can use this too cheat .. but if you want too cheat .. WTF is the point of playing the game... ugh ..

Pretty easy, you get annoyed with something, like me got bored that Clover got killed by albino radscorpions so I made her essential. Problem her is simply that the AI see nothing wrong in going into melee with a 1500 hp monster with crippled legs instead of redrawing under fire.
Also pure fun like a minigun who fires mininukes :)

Yes the console is designed as a development tool, very useful if you makes mods.
However find it strange they don't include some simple cheats/ fallback on PS3/Xbox360 like tcl. advance current quest one step to solve problems and perhaps some other like god mode and resurrect npc.

Might be that Bethesda hope some people buy the game first on console then on pc, know it was pretty common for Oblivion, partly because it required a powerful pc to run then it was released.

The PC version IS better (and also $10 cheaper), but it's the gamer's choice which version they want to buy.

Don't forget, the PC version has official modding tools (the GECK), and in order to make and test mods, you need the developer's console. It isn't specifically included as a 'cheat' advantage, that is simply an incidental benefit.

Why anyone bought Fallout 3 on console I couldn't get either. Although this is just my opinion because I am a fan of the Modding community and after I'd finished the game found cheating easier.
