My PS3 died when I applied Skyrim wallpaper which we can see in the backdrop of this forum. Dovakhin appeared on my screen and in few moments my ps3 slammed and shut down . Yellow light of death appeared and off goes my ps3. Is it my ps3 hardware or dovakhin shouted flames on it?

Now I am waiting for SKYRIM and I have no console and as a matter of fact my PC is not powerful at all. The amount of upgrade would allow me to get a new console. Now guys? What do I do?

PS3 SLIM or XBOX360 SLIM? Also does any of those machines has those lights of deaths??? anymore?

Your PS3 issue with the wallpaper isn't indicative of how it will handle Skyrim itself though. Could the timing have just been such that your PS3 was already on its last leg or ...? Is there a particular format which PS3 wallpapers have to be or a resolution requirement which migh be tripping up your rig? There's bound to be a way to save your PS3, no?

I own both, and I personally prefer my PS3. This is mainly because none of the new Xbox 360 exclusives appeal to me anymore. To be honest, since they are both very different, yet very much the same, go with the one that has the controller you rather. I will be playing Skyrim on my beastly pc luckily though, aha. Common belief is that the xbox is better for Shooters, Sports, and Racing games, while the PS3 is better for Rpgs, 3rd person games, and I forget what else. Aside from all that, just get the one with the more ergonomic controller for your hands, and the one you have more friends on.

You have a third option. Take it to a local repair person(I assume your warranty is up) and they will replace the part that has failed for about 1/3 of the cost of a new console.

You need to replace that PS3 before Uncharted 3, The Last Guardian and GOW: Origins comes out.
Did you contact SONY? Any chance of it getting fixed/replaced?

Don't forget Ni No Kuni and Final Fantasy Versus XIII! We're getting some real JRPGs, finally.

If you can't get it fixed and you have enough for a PC upgrade, there's really no good reason not to. Mods beat all other reasons.
