PS3 Legendary Edition

Post » Thu Jul 25, 2013 5:32 am

I have been considering getting the Legendary Edition on Playstation 3, but I have some concerns. My main question is does Skyrim work on the PS3? I have heard only negative things about its performance in the past, but nothing recently. Is it as reliable as the other versions now? I can deal with a game freezing on a loading screen now and then, but much more might frustrate me.

Yes it works. It's isn't the most stable, but its playable. You just have to take care of the game. Do that and it will care for you.

Read my post here (post 6 I think, scroll up a bit).

I got it about a month ago and it's very much worth it.

The crashes are minimum and the framerate issues only occur after continuous hours of play but can be fixed by just turning the system off & on.

1.9 update really did the trick and I highly recommend purchasing it.

While the PS3 version is now much better off then it was before there are still plenty of frame rate drops and stuttering. Some get alot of lag issues while others get a minimal amount. It all depends on the status of your console and in game precautions. As stated in Shadow_Titans post one of the most important things you can do is clean up after yourself. Be warned though that no matter what you do on the PS3 the lag will come at some point if you grow your save to large file size. While the PS3 version is playable to an extent i would strongly recommend looking into getting the Xbox 360 version (as much as it pains me to say that...) or the PC version.

One more thing... be careful with the Dawnguard DLC. Despite all the work the developers put into the PS3 edition of Dawnguard it is still a very prevalent source of lag and frame drops on PS3. This is why the LE for PS3 will give you the option to choose which of the DLCs you want to install. I recommend getting what you want out of the DLC and then uninstalling it for the best performance results.

I think installing all three would be best. It's really not that bad, them again, experienced do vary.

I'm just speaking from personal experience. I know I'm not the only one who had issues with Dawnguard in terms of performance. Just trying to help the OP get all the detail he can before he makes his purchase.

I have Skyrim for the PS3 and I'll get the occasional freeze, but that's really it. It's very much enjoyable with nothing wrong with it.

19MB with all three installed. Laggy lag. I moved to PC though so it's no longer a concern of mine. You seem to have a good experience so lucky you :tops:

I actually didnt experience too many bugs/glitches on my PS3 and I played on it for a year before I got the PC version. I did have a few crashes, and I got stuck on some loading screens. The lag wasnt bad at all until my save file got bigger... like 400 hours into the character.

I do get the infinite loading screens sometimes, and there seem to be certain lag "trouble spots" that I've found, but they are few and far between. Overall I don't have many complains with the ps3 version

Infinite loading screen are caused by having a large amount of Skyrim save files on your PS3s hard drive. Thin them out by backing them up on a USB drive and infinite loading screens will go away.
