PS3 May be coming back up?

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 2:53 pm

I just attempted to sign into PSN expecting nothing new, but it started to download a new update. As you can expect, I went into a frenzy.
I guess they got it fixed.
By the way I live in Texas, so I'm not sure about other reigons :celebration:

EDIT: I realise I may have jumped the gun, as the updates still downloading, but i'm hoping this means it'll be back up. Please let it be, so that I'm not extremely embarassed :cryvaultboy:

2nd EDIT:My bad, guys, I presumed the update meant restoration of online play

Great! The hackers are obviously bored with your personal information so they've given you access to it again. hooorayy!

PSN isn't back up. This update is in preparation for the PSN's return.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/14/ps3-system-software-update/ I wouldn't be surprised if it's up later today or tomorrow, though.

I'm not really sure; I don't quite get what Sony's getting at with this. I guess it forces us to change our passwords when PSN is back up. Seems like an odd thing to do in a firmware update. I'm sure it will guide you through it when PSN comes back online, but you press 'triangle' on 'your profile', and it should be pretty clear from there.

I'm pretty sure there just trying to be on the safe side now with the password changing, so nobody complains that they had the account hacked again lol.

It's probably to stop the hackers from logging on peoples accounts as soon as the PSN is back up.

I think I read somewhere we can only change the password on the ps3 we created the account on for safety reasons and we will get an email with a link to password change.

Did he just say that PSN is back up? http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/14/kazuo-hirai-playstation-network-relaunch-announcement/

I'm downloading the update right now so I can't check myself.

EDIT: [censored]. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/14/play-on-%E2%80%93-psn-restoration-begins-now/, but it is up, or will be in the next little bit.

Uh, the PS3 I created it on is gone and the password for the related email address has been forgotten by me. What does that mean for me and my account?

I think that as long as you had a registered email hooked up to your current PS3 you'll be okay, as long as you can log into that email account. If not, you're probably SOL. Or Sony Support might be able to help.

To be honest, I'm pretty damn confused about all this.

Also, is there a reason why I could never change my email address? I'm stuck with an old email address I'll never use again for my account and I don't want to lose what I've bought from the PSN. I want to change the email address used, but I can't... or at least I can't figure out how to.

I'm 97% sure I changed mine at one point. Isn't it an option in your profile?

I remember searching for it, but not finding it. Right now, it's not an option because I can't even access my profile (:P) but I was never able to figure out how to change it.

Update done. Still says it's in maintenance though. However I used the Internet Browser and the home page had a new published 15/05. Saying the new measures and what not. However it also says it will be back up during their first phase...which is soon I suppose
