PS3 patch steal your dlc?

Post » Wed Apr 21, 2010 11:59 pm

I've tried on a couple other threads to get input on whether or not anyone else lost their dlc after downloading the patch for PS3. I did, and have no idea how to get it back. I tried to delete the game file and reload, and that didn't work.

It did not steal my DM. It worked like it was supposed to for me. ( PS3 )

360 had a ton of problems with this. I bet they are working on a patch for the patch right now. There are way too many people having this happen for them to let i go for long.

This game has had problem after problem. Its nearly 7 months old and we're still talking about new patches!
I did manage to play it for an hour yesterday without it freezing, so the patch must have helped (so far)
Its a pity ive already struggled my way through the game encountering numerous freezes and glitches. Its has ruined the experience for me. So next time guys why not try something different.......like releasing the game when its actually ready?? instead of using us as testers

Seems most PS3 players have managed to avoid this. Some people suggested starting a new game, getting the Sierra Madre broadcast message, leaving Goodsprings, saving, then loading one of your other files.

Haven't had a single problem as of yet. Asides from having to repair the adjusted weapons that I have in storage/on display in my L38 suite..

What essentially happened with some ps3 players is the patch somehow disconnected the DLC from the gamedate, which would nessistate reinstalling the DLC. Which we can't due to PSN being down. In my case, the patch didn't mess with the DLC and I recieved no error message at all.

I started a new game and not only did the radio message not appear, I also did not receive my Classic Pack items. Off the main screen, nothing appears under "Downloaded Content". Looks like I have to wait until PSN is back up and try re-downloading the files. Everything else about the patch reinvigorated my love for this game, at least.

I have some information that may or may not help:

If this is the issue with players ending up in Goodsprings, the problem is with your load order, the order that the game.. well, loads stuff. What happens is that the patch can move the FalloutNV.esm to the very bottom of your load order. What this means is that the DLCs are loaded first, with the main file loaded last. The effect of that is that the DLC .ESMs are being overwritten by the FalloutNV.esm, meaning that anything the DLCs would change is changed back by the FalloutNV.esm. THe only way to fix this issue is to A) change the load order, which is impossible, or B) delete your DLC and re-download, thus restoring the FalloutNV.esm to it's proper place at the top of the load order.

However, if this is the issue about the game telling you that you don't have the DLC when you load up a pre-patch save then all that can be done is wait for a new patch... for the patch. You still have the DLC, it's just that the game doesn't seem to recognize it as such. Loading a save with this issue can cause it to become corrupt, so it's best to wait until the next *sigh* patch-patch.

Okay, I found another post that said that deleting one of two dlc files in the game files on your PS3 desktop will do the trick. I deleted the file that was about 12 MB and was described with CA and that did the trick. I recommend anyone else with my problem try this as well. As far as the patch goes, again, it rocks. Very satisfied, and I look forward to all the dlc they want to sell me.
