PS3 Question About Saved Game Data

Post » Wed Oct 29, 2014 11:26 am

I'm on a new PSN ID, and am about to transfer my saved game to it. Since I'm assuming trophies won't unlock for achievments I've already completed on that saved game, i.e. trophy for the first time I bought a house, I'm going to play through a new game to unlock the trophies I've already obtained on my previous PSN, then resume the saved game I'm transferring.

What I'm wondering is, will doing this affect any future trophies? For example, will obtaining trophies from two separate saved games, on two separate PSN's, prevent me from obtaing any trophies, such as the platinum trophy, or will they register properly?

I should be able to get some of the trophies I already obtained on my previous PSN fairly quickly, but most of the other minor details and missions that aren't directly trophy-related are where a lot of my play-time has accumulated.

If you don't have the trophy getting it again won't mess anything up, but if you'll use an old save I'm pretty sure you won't be able to get some of those trophies with that save, you'll have to create a new game to get those old trophies back.

I was wondering this myself. But this clears things up. :)

Best way to find out is to try it out yourself. I don't own Skyrim for the PS3 so I can't swear my life on it, but it makes sense, and it worked like that for games that got trophies later via patching, pre-patch saves were more or less useless for obtaining trophies. :)

Well, I figured you were right because also I use Save Editor and mod programs on my save files to cheat. The program says very plainly that it can unlock content, but it does give fair warning that the trophy will be forfeit because it will be unlocking code in a way that is invalid on the game and that the play through as any player would, gets the trophy that way. I don't know how it works. I just put my save files on this program and I insert them. I don't get many trophy's doing it with a PS3/PC save editor program. It apparently doesn't work that way.

Ok, thanks. My main concern was with certain trophies, such as "Oblivion Walker," that require multiple missions to be completed. If I completed half of those missions on my old PSN, then complete the rest on my new PSN, will that trophy still unlock (as long as all of the missions were completed on the same saved game file, only the save file will have been used on both, my old new PSN)?

I figured I'd have to go back on a new game for trophies already earned, such as "citizen."

That won't work, it has to be on one profile.

Basically, whatever you did on that old save game file was never actually done as far as your new PSN account and Trophies "care".
