PS3 on the BRINK.....of an Indefinite Hiatus.

Give up on playstation? What?! Are you telling me to ‘move on’? To just forget? Just forget that we landed on Normandy together and fought our way through that nightmare while hundreds fell and died around us? Just forget that when I lifted the World Cup, he was there for me, cheering me on? Forget that, while everyone else ran, he and I stood alone in an New York, waiting for that [censored] zombie mass from hell with nothing but a ivory handled-shotgun and a dog between us and total annihilation? Just forget surviving the end of the world? Forget our adventures in space? Forget our high speed chase? Forget it all? Sell my playstation down the road because he has had a bad month and needs me for once?!! Once in years and years?

NEVER!!

If we stop playing...we let the hackers win

Nah, it was not a member of /b/, otherwise all of your credit card info would be circulating around the internet. They take things too wayyyyy too far.

I'm not talking about /b/, I'm talking about the hacker activists that call themselves Anonymous. They may have largely started from [censored], but they aren't related to it any more.

Edit: I've got both a 360 and a PS3, for those of you considering going with the 360 just consider this: Not only do you have to pay 50 bucks a year for internet that is free on the PS3, but the 360 has so many more children that you can't even believe it until you see it. Also, I always hear people saying "you have to pay because it's better" but the simple fact of the matter is that I've had XBL for 4 years now due to friends not having a PS3 and I can honestly say I notice no difference in quality between XBL and PSN except for the chance that I'll run into a raging 10 year old.

change your experience type to recreation. the tweens are either emo (underground) or awesome (pro) in their own minds, they'd never select recreation or family. but family implies you'll watch your own language and who wants that?

also muting is insanely easy the hardest thing about it is muting the right person.

i have a personal issue against sony so i'll never buy the ps3. i'll decide on the ps4 based on the pre release marketing as well. (sony marketing was all sorts of BS specifically targetting one upmanship of the competition which they ultimately scraqe through a roughly equal piece of hardware. then proceed to convince everyone that it's still superior despite not giving any real figures to prove it.)

No chance I'll let these fackwit azhole hackers ruin my gaming enjoyment.

I will enjoy the SP regardless.

MP will return, and the hackers most certainly will be found & heavily convicted.

No, I just switched from PC to PS3 and have not looked back. The PS3 is the right platform for me and I don't mind starting Brink in singleplayer if PSN is not up by the time I get it. In fact, I will start out in singleplayer either way. I like to get a feel for the game before entering multiplayer.

ps3 will still be king at games like fifa and drake's fortune etc.

but for FPS its pretty useless unless you have move and sharpshooter - killzone is a blast with them. i hate console pads for FPS and the auto aim they have is also kinda lame.

PC for me with brink and bf3. they will be much better on the pc anyway. mouse and keys ftw :)

i can still output from pc to home cinema anyway so i can play sat on the couch with wireless mouse and keyboard :)

The point was, And I'm not defending either party, The hackers wanted to run there own programing and such on PS3 much alike you can the Xbox. Making it more appealing to the wider community. Sony However did not like this and came tumbling down on them with the law instead of just rendering the unit useless - reffering to the wii and its updates. By doing this It would've caught the attention of the Anon, A old group that used to hang around the [censored] 99chan and other such forums. As they are not really controlled by any one person, but as a collective. Id say a few gathered amongst this to try and show sony, That by bringing the law into it, was taking it too far as trying to make there system more appealing to the owner of the unit, - even voiding their right to use it - infact was the wrong the wrong strategic move, Of course sony has the right under law to gather the IP's off all who downloaded the illegal jailbreak to the ps3 and charge them with piracy. But these people belived that the unit, hardware and software belongs to them so they can change it if they want to, Thus sony doing this, Annoying the Anonymous few. They retaliated. Hard. They more then likey at the same time did take the details off banks to cover themselves incase the law did catch up, But more then likely they kept to the ideals that its not the people they have a problem with, Its the corporations and conglomerates. So They crashed the network, much alike the Scientology network.

link below as to a annon file left on there servers.

Having said all this, This Is All Bloody irrelevent to the whole point of this forum, This is about brink. I want it now.... I live In Australia. Feel Pitty my brothers... I wait for the 13th may... :violin:

That's quite funny. Dont get your feathers ruffled when someone calls you out on a simply pathetic and ignorant thread. Besides. . .Im most likely old enough to be your father.

First of all for someone who may think that they are older you sure act like a lot of children that dwell within these forums and second this is not a pathetic/ ignorant thread this is to show that we care strongly about SONY's passion to deliver fun and entertainment towards it's customers and we will not give up on their service given to us. This thread was merely showing that due to the attacks caused by the hackers, SONY may have given thought as to shutting down their servers for even longer without any date anytime soon because another attack was listed to occcur. And please save your flames for people that actually are begging for it on here. Thanks.

a major reason behind not allowing custom code on PS3s is that you can then hack the game files and cheat online. the PC has been troubled with cheats for years.

yes, removing 'other OS' from consoles was a pain to the 1% of people who actually used it. but then again if you wanted a cell linux system you could have it. you just couldnt update PSN. so, the labs that used farms of cell systems could still do that (why would they need the PSN?)

i can see both sides of the argument. sony were bad but this retaliation will just be a way to steal from users and in the end will achieve very little apart from pissing off users and forcing sony into a fair amount of bills (>$1billion?)

My PS3 simply gathers dust. I play Xbox 360 and PC over it. I do feel for the PSN community however, and their inability to play Brink online once it launches.

I cant wait to see what free games we are getting -_- . probably pac man, galaga, dig dug, minesweeper, and solitaire -_-.

we are gonna be over a month without psn, but i can tolerate that. but having my personal information stolen?! Sony better give me a $60 retail game (as if) for free if they expect me to even consider letting this slide.

I have yet to complete New Vegas, Mass Effect 2, Enslaved OTTW, Mafia II, Infamous (evil) and quite a few others that I plan on doing. Love playing FIFA 11 offline as well as still going around Cyrodiil and haven't completed the expansion pack yet.

Haven't missed PSN one bit.

Am a bit miffed that it might still be down by the time Brink comes out but any multiplayer game I buy, especially FPS, I go through single-player first and with Brink I'll spend plenty of time customising and getting a feel of the gameplay and how the game works before going competitive online to kick ass.
