PS3 Ultimate Edition

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 11:06 pm

So far I am really enjoying my game and have had no problems at all. This is my first time playing New Vegas and I am enjoying it just as much as I enjoyed Fallout 3. Please let me know if there is any serious problems that I should be aware of on the PS3 version of Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition. Right now I have two game saves and I have not experienced any problems.

As a member with New Vegas and all the DLC's downloaded off of PSN, I can't say I've had any issues per se. The only REAL issue is certain places in the game can be very slow FPS when you've been playing for hours on end. But in general, I've never run into a corrupted save, unplayability, and so on. It's great you're having such a good experience though! :)

Pretty much. If you've been playing for a few hours, save, exit the game, go make yourself a sandwich or something, then come back and start it up again. But as with all BGS games, just save often.

There are some horror stories, but I didn't experience anything atypical myself. Of course this was with the vanilla game + all the DLC.

Glad you're enjoying it, I remember you making a thread claiming you were excited for the Ultimate Edition. I hope you have a good time, and if you can, play the originals sometime :D

I beat you styles

My wife loves the Caravan card game. It's too difficult for me so I just let my wife play it.

It's VERY easy. Just don't let your card caravans (Each of the three rows of cards is one 'caravan') get above 26, Kings are doublers of the card you place it with (10 becomes 20 and etc), and Jacks are the best cards you can use against your opponents.

Easy for you maybe. LOL I have never been good at card games. I can play Blackjack and that's about it. My wife's got that Caravan game figured out now and she has been winning every time.

Hey, no problem. I understand completely. I'm great at Blackjack, can't play poker or any other card games, but it took me like 1-2 months to properly get the swing of Caravan. :)

Speaking of which, I just won my first ever Caravan game! Only logged a ridiculous amount of hours into this game, and I finally figured how the game works somewhat. Still confusing somewhat with the queens, jacks and jokers, but i'm getting the hang of it. Just trying to get the acheivements.

Jokers, I'm not sure how they work, and I don't think Queens do anything, or they don't do things for me. But Jacks you put in the enemies card set, and it wipes cards from their pile.

I always played getting my cards to exactly 26. I just had my decks set up this way, I don't know why, just did. But yeah, I'm not even a gambler really and I got the hang of it (after losing twice, that is)

It took me 5 playthroughs to gain balls and try to learn it ever since i first tried it. Its actualy pretty easy to win whe ?n you get plenty of kings and jacks.

I'm on the PS3, the only issue I have is sometimes after about 4-6 hours of playing it'll freeze. Everytime that happens though, I go into my game folder and delete the FONV game data (not save data) and reinstall. Takes a little while, but I've noticed that freezing is nearly eradicated after doing it. I'll get a few slow downs, but I'll save and quit, start back up and it's smooth as butter. Minor, and I mean very minor inconvience for me.

About the freezing and the game data thing, I did that 1 time, and it has cleared up that whole situation for me. I've not had a game freeze since I did a reinstall of it onto my PS3 (install meaning the game data). So, if you ever run into freezing where it locks your system up and you can't do anything, delete the game data for FONV and reinstall it.

I've always thought that the PS3 empties the cache every time that you turn it off. That's what I've always done after playing a game for a few hours. I just save the game and then turn the PS3 off for a couple of minutes. In New Vegas I will sleep for 24 + hours until it lands on 8:00 a.m., then I save, then I exit the game and then turn off my PS3. When I start playing again I sleep for 24 more hours and then I go out and start playing the game again. I do this about every 4 hours and because of that I have never had New Vegas Ultimate Edition glitch or freeze up on me.

I just purchased the UE two days ago and it's a great game filled with content. There are so many options and quests.

Besides the occasional lag every now and then I haven't had any issues. I'm gonna play Dead Money when I'm around level 15 or so.

Yeah, I've been stuck at work a lot. I work 12 hour days, plus I have a wife and a 4 year old son. I have a weird schedule where I work for 4 days and then get 4 days off. My last few cycles off have been shortened because they needed me to work over time so I would only get 1 or 2 days off. This is my first time finally getting my 4 days off since Ultimate Edition came out so now I finally can make some progress. I have the hard cover strategy guide so I have been bringing that and the instruction manual to work every day and reading both of them. I should get plenty of game time in these next few days because my wife is at work and my son is at pre-school.

You guys know you can look up the rules for caravan in the pip boy help? I think the queen reverses the direction of your hand. ie if you put a 4 then a 9 down you can only put higher than 9 next, but if you put a queen down you can put below 9 instead. Jokers do a special thing i forgot... lol check the help in game it shows you it all there.

It's also in the instruction manual. It takes two full pages to explain how to play the game.

I think it's too long to read, I'm too lazy to read it. I want to play Fallout and roleplay, not read a wall of text

Just my two cents.

Tip: Don't charge in a casino with a pistol..

It works in the movies! Sadly, not the game.. That as well as you seem to gain little to no profit for robbing a casino.

Now that I have some hours sank into the Ultimate Edition it runs horribly on the PS3. I wish that I had a high end PC to play FNVUE on. I use my PS3 to surf the Internet and play on forums, I just can't afford a PC. Maybe when the PS4 comes out, games published by Bethesda will actually work and not freeze up constantly. It is driving me crazy all of the slowdown and freezing. Once an hour I have to save (if I can) and then turn my PS3 off. That helps to speed things back up again for about an hour or so. Once every other day I delete the system data for the game and then turn my PS3 off and empty out the cache. Doing all of that only helps so much. The game just wasn't meant for the PS3. I'll be glad once I platinum this game and can move on to a game that actually works right on the PS3.
