PS3 unplayable on large saves, no fix ever?

I love the Elder scrolls series, own and play on both PC and PS3 but game after game from bethesda never gets fixed on PS3 and im sick of it.

Ive spent 1200 hours on my character on PS3 and come to a point I just have to give up, the latest 500 hours or so I have had hell playing at all but wanted to complete all in the game on my character (and the last few thropies) but now I just give up, I have to skip the Dragonborn expansion since it has come to a point its 100% unplayable.

Also when you pass around 1200~ hours the save counter resets to 0 and starts counting over, mine is currently on 8 hours since I passed the 1200h mark (=1208h) (not something I complain over just wanted to tell).

What's wrong you may ask? Well my save is huge, I play RPG style and tend to do every quest possible and dwell in the lore and spend a lot of time in the game.

I collect items in my house which helps making my save larger and I spent the first 500+ hours not even touching the main story (besides up to the point I get my first shout).

My character is currently lvl 147 legit and have done pretty much everything possible in the game besides the dragonborn expansion.

So now to explain what happens, I recently after a break due to all issues with Skyrim on PS3 started playing again, freshly installed game, only one save, autosave off etc all to make the game run as good as possible.

I had a pain completing the main story since the game starts going sluggish and the framerate is way to low and the game freezes a second quite often and most sounds tend to be a bit late and hangs a few times a day, and saving game takes nearly one minute, about 30 secs just nothing happen after pressing save in the menu and when you select a save it gets stuck on 99% for about 20 seconds and when you are in the game you tend to forget to save and are set back a hour or two often.′also you loose quite a lot of feel when you have to sit near a minute watching the screen while saving which also tend to make you ignore saving and hope for no bugs/crashes.

Wouldn't be a problem if I could have more then one save or use auto save, the other problem besides the Huge performance problem is all bugs in quests, I have bugged quests I can not complete and quest items I can not remove from my inventory.

So now I always save before starting a quest because you never know what will be bugged, this also tend to be annoying since the game freeze/hangs a lot so I have to retrace my steps so many times... Try spending 2 hours collecting ingredients then the game crash then you have to do the same thing all over and remember to save and wait for taht 1 min save time every 10th minute to be safe.. Not funt at all.

The problem is so huge at this point that the game runs in less then 5-10 fps from start and soon starts giving 1+ second freezes constantly after playing a hour or so and I am forced to restart the entire system and wait the minutes it takes to start the game and load your save...

Why do I not make a new character you may ask? Well spent 1200h on one to complete everything possible on one character (that's my playstyle) you do not really want to start over and also after spending hundreds of hours forcing yourself to continue to play in near unplayable conditions does make me even more want to complete the mess you started also you continue in the fake hope that it will be fixed with a patch.

I know it is not my PS3 that is defective since I got two PS3s, one is the first 60GB version with a 500GB harddrive installed the other is the newest white slim model with a 120GB SSD installed (just for skyrim), both have this problems but the SSD one is a bit more playable, I also tried my save on a friends PS3 same problem there.

How can something like this continue to happen on PS3 from bethesda? I bought Oblivion when it was released had some problems but worked quite OK the first 100h.

Fallout 3 came, loved it, continued to play my main character trough all expansions but when I just had one single trophy left the game was so unplayable it tended to crash every single loading screen and I had to give it up and had invested huge amounts of time in my character.

Then came Fallout NV, same as Fallout 3, unplayable when I had a far along character with huge amounts of hours behind it.

Then I thought now they must have fixed it when Skyrim comes, no it was not fixed, and as usual you see all the extreme problems after you have played many many hours and then you don't want all those hours to be for nothing and try to continue still after all your problems...

So all bethesda games is unplayable on the same character after some point and never gets fixed but still they kept releasing games with same problems...

So hundreds of hours into every Bethesda game it becomes unplayable and you carry on because you want your character done and do all your goals until it becomes so unplayable you just have to quit, does not feel good and they keep doing that on every single game after another without ever fixing it... Look at the date Fallout 3 was released, it's now 2014 and I still cant complete the last quest I have left on my main character because it crash before I can do it...

Why is this never fixed? Why do you not care about us PS3 players? How come you do release broken games which you never fix on PS3?

Time after time I have bought your new games on PS3 on release date hoping you would fix the issues and time after time you have NOT.

Sure tell me to go play on PC, I do play on PC and have all games there also but I work away from home half of the year without a PC and have to play on console...

Sure there are not to many players who spends my amount of time on their games, but at work I got a lot of time to spend since im away half the year without much else to do after the work day is over until I sleep.

I registered today just to write this, how you let us PS3 users be in the dark and ignore us for so many years without fixing our problems, I decided to abandon my Skyrim character today since I realized I can not complete the dragonborn expansion in any way on my main character as it looks now, same for all of the older bethesda games tried to hold in there waiting in vain for fixes until it was unplayable enough to force me to abandon ship, hoping next game would be different...

No thanks, no more bethesda on anything other then PC for me (would ignore the company completely if I could but I love the games to much).

Edit: I can record with my phone while playing to show a video of how unplayable it is if anyone wants to see...

Edit: Also why I wrote this today is because today I gave up Skyrim (long ago since I gave up the other games) and also fitting enough I saw the news of 20mill sold copies of Skyrim today, 20 million sold copies but still no funds to fix the PS3 version? No don't think so, you can fund it but don't want to because you do not care about the PS3 players enough and it is to much work, newsflash do not freaking continue to release game after game on the system with same problems then.

Don't wanna sound too ignorant, but..

I thought this was impossible because save game files are "locked" to machine they're made on.

But in short, yeah, I know how you feel. I have Oblivion on ps3, it's wasn't so bad for me as it is for you with Skyrim, but bugs were everywhere. Quest objectives not appearing where they should and eventually completely disappearing from the game in case of objectives that are already in the game world but somewhere else, and all the way to whole cells or areas going corrupt, causing my ps3 to freeze every time I try to enter the cell. It was random too, but one cell seemed to be persistent in freezing for almost all characters which became annoying to hell (ruin where Umbra is).

If we're gonna be honest, PC versions of their games are in no way better, it's just that PCs can take more than consoles and modders keep the [censored] together with unofficial modding and coding patches (for example Morrowind Code Patch, mod without which I'd never return to Morrowind because without it Morrowind tends to corrupt whole save game file and you have to clean it with tools and hope it works).

Thank you for your reply, i always also copy my PS3 profile so I can login on my profile on other PS3s so I don't miss any trophies etc so if they are locked that might be the reason why I can play on my other system amd my friends I guess?

I have never tried the save without signing in on my ps3 profile but I guess I gotra try that to see if they are locked i some way.

And yeah I feel really bad about all time spent in these games just to be unable to play after so huge amounts of time spent, without the possibility to complete my goals :(

All I can hope for is a more smooth experience on the coming games on the PS4, I actually wish they would release all the PS3 games o PS4 and make it possible to transfer your save there because I really want to complete my adventures in all 4 games which im not able to do now :/

Sounds like you don't clean up after battles. After 1200 hours, I imagine there are thousands of weapons lying around bloating up your savefile. Especially if you character is from day 1 Skyrim.
