PS3 version - need help getting Azura's Star back

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 2:42 am

I'm newb, Oblivion is one game I can sit and play for a while without getting bored and moving on to something else like basketball or whittling. That said I think I screwed my game. Does anyone remember the crazy paranoid guy that thought everyone was out to get him, he contracted you to spy on people & kill them, then in the end you ended up killing him instead(at least that's what I did)? Can't remember his name. Well I messed up and used a cabinet in his house to store some things, most important of which was Azura's Star. Returned to get the stuff and poof, no stuff just some worthless dinnerware. Can I get this back or is it gone forever? I've got a lot of hours in this game, and I may just move on if I can't get that particular item back. I can't start over. Help!

Yeah, I remember Glarthir.

It's gone forever, unless you've got a savegame from before it disappeared or are playing on PC rather than XBox/PS3. The only way to get that (or any other) item back is only available on the PC: open the console, and use "player.additem " to add it to the player's inventory.

It's gone, sorry. Most containers that aren't owned by the player (bought as furniture) respawn after 3 game days. Why not restart? If you didn't know about respawning containers you're not that far into the game. It'll go faster the second time around, I promise.

I wouldn't worry too much about Azura's Star. Sure it's useful, but you can do the same stuff with soul gems. I'm a bow/sword fighter and I mostly svck at magic so even at level 37 after over 200 hours I've trapped less than ten souls total and have used Azura's Star about two or three times (my mysticism is really low, my magicka is low, and my spells svck so my available enchantments still svck).

If you are not using enchanted weapons, it is certainly not a big deal.

If you are, however, I would honestly take stock of what you have learned so far about the game overall and start anew (making lots of key strategic saves as you go).

I just brought up Buffy, my character and looked at her stats. She has 425 hours showing. I estimate her real hours are quite a bit higher because sometimes we intentionally don't save our sessions. She is a mystic archer and carries a powerfully enchanted bow that includes a brief soul trap effect. She also carries Azura's Star. She has captured 2,103 souls and I'm sure 99% of those went into Azura's Star.

In fact she only needs four enchanted items: Bow, Azura's Star, and a pair of long range detect life rings. That's it.

The attic section of the abandoned house where the DB lair seems to be safe enough - I've been dumping books and other things I want on the floor and leaving them; so far nothing's vanished.

check the uesp wiki for a full list of safe containers. But the easiest way is just use jaufreys chest in weynons priory or any clam
