PS4 - But I really want to share!

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 6:55 am

Sheesh. I am so frustrated.

I really, really want to share screenshots and videos, but the only places the PS4 will allow it is to Facebook, Twitter or the PS4 network.

It is so frustrating!

1) Facebook? Really? Do I have to start an entirely new Facebook page just to share my stuff there? I mean, honestly, I'm friggin' 50 years old. I do not want my "Facebook" friends seeing that I'm so obsessed with a game that I need to post it. They simply wouldn't understand.

2) Twitter? Really? Again, I'm a business person, my Twitter feed is NOT for posting game footage. I'm not a teenager.

3) Oh! Yippee! I can post to the PS4 network. You know, the one where nobody ever goes.

Does anyone have any suggestions? (And yes, I have Twitch, but that's not even an option to post to).

I just save them to the console drive, then extract to a USB memory then take that to a PC.

That may be my only way to go. At least I'm not using my headphones at the moment, so I guess I'll use that port. Dern it!

I use a USB drive. The only problem is that it is cumbersome to save them to the drive if you only want to save a few images and not every image you saved on the console.

I haven't had a PS4 for long, so I haven't messed around with the screenshot feature. I am, however, very familiar with the Xbox One screenshot feature. Can you access the PSN from your PC? Anytime I want to share screenshots I've taken on my Xbox, I just hop on my PC and log in to my Live account. It shows all my recent activity, including any captures. I save those onto my hard drive and then upload them to my Imgur account. It's a bit of a runaround, but it's easier for everyone else (xbox live photo sharing loads horribly slow).

Thank you. I hadn't thought of that. I am going to try uploading some screenshots to my PSN account and see if I can access them from there. All I'm seeing at the moment is trophies (which I don't care about at all!).

My only options to share are to facebook and twitter. It will not even give me the option to share screenshots to youtube, only video. It's annoying.

I'll mess around tonight and see what I can come up with.

Download youtube on the ps4, go on your computer and make a account on youtube. When you click share on your ps4 youtube will come up. It will ask for usual login stuff for your utube account. Then share away.

It uploads at 720p so the quality is pretty good. You cam also edit the video on your ps4 before you upload it.

You will see the youtube app is already on the ps4, you just need to download it.

Just to play Devil's advocate (because this is what I do), it is not hard to make a fake Facebook page. Even though they say you should use your real information, there is no legally binding requirement you need to do so and they can't really prove your identity anyways unless you give them reason to really really dig deep or you've already provided it through the new account. I use an aliases in many facets of my life, and my gaming life alias is the same on PSN as it is on Facebook (which is funny because my the email I use has my real name in it). It really is super easy, and you don't lose photo quality on FB either (Twitter you can lose some).

This is easy too. Might be even faster than FB. Really depends on your setup I guess.

That works for videos, not screenshots. I like using Youtube because you can send an editted clip to them, then continue to edit it once uploaded to Youtube.
