PS4 Mods Officially Dead

Post » Wed Sep 14, 2016 4:13 pm

No I understand you, for me Fallout is an fun shooter, elder scroll is live another life.

Note that MS was way larger asshats during the 360 time then they was top dog: if we don't get time exclusives on DLC you don't get to release them on 360.

So I like their current position and I want them to keep it.

yes, it came out one year earlier and the first PS3 was very expensive because of blueray.

Timing is critical, One was late in this generation, yes nuke your own foot before launch don't help.

Seems to me like Sony wants to copy the controlling, stubborn, arrogant Apple of old. The same Apple of the 90's and 00's that juggernaughted right past customer demand for things like Flash, USB, etc.., and the one that stubbornly held off moving in line with modern PC architecture for so long. It also seems like Sony's too stupid to see that the Apple of that time got away with that because they had real innovation and quality products, but Sony does not. Nowdays the market is much fatter and will just turn on you in a flat second if you try too much of that.

I'm a Microsoft boy all the way, but man, I really feel bad for the PS4 owners. I mean that sincerely too.

Yeah, it svcks, but this has really shown me that, for Bethesda games, you really ought to be playing them on PC, Xbox if you don't want to deal with a PC. I wouldn't be surprised if Beth went Xbox/PC exclusive now.

Some might say they should have done that a long time ago. Their support for the Playstation has been less than stellar.

Yeah, I had a 360 for that era of Beth games, but I got Fallout4 on PS4 and it has been a satisfactory experience. Well, up until today anyway.

it is a pity what has happened .....................Bad Sony :flame:

Reality Check

We don't exist and what ever we may say will not change a thing, The Gods of money have other agendas & like it or not our fate is sealed what ever may happen.

we are talking about million of dollars and the future of Consoles & games alike ................these are Company's that you and me cant get even through the front door.

as the loyal fans we do hope & some expect that our opinions counts .........that everything we say here on Bethesda reaches the programmers & writers of the Elder Scrolls 6......or even the Remastered version witch is coming out soon .......we love to think that we belong to something much greater than our selves & that yea one day ...........one day .....maybe.....

maybe one day Bethesda would put up a post thanking US all for our love & devotion to The Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim

as for a boycott on PS4 & Sony to work you need the numbers to be in the millions & millions

Example $450 AU per console in Australia x 1.000.000 people not buying PS4 = $450.000.000 AU loss if there is such a boycott .......that's a very big movement to even get off the ground Under the Banner of give us MOD's on PS4 ..............but if it worked they would pay atention

I have always been a fan of Sony equipment. Their playstations had a demonstrable slight graphics quality edge too.

(Having said, that I am on Xbox360 currently because I wanted the dlc which wasn't (at the time) available on PS3, though now is)

With that in mind, Given a choice of PS4 or Xbox1 and with mods coming go both consols in due course, I advised my boy to spend his christmas money on a PS4........it still IS technically a great console.

But with this shocking culmination in the disappointing "Mod support" farce....he is crest fallen....and so am I.

When SSE emerges, (and assuming Beth HAVE got it right this time) I will be buying us Xbox Ones.

Sony have burned their bridges with this as far as I am concerned.....STUFF THEM

Shout it from the mountain tops and NUKE em from orbit

In our house now....you wanna insult someone with worse than the "F" word....you call em a filthy SONY

I am gonna write to their CEO and tell him how much he dishonours his grandfather!

Then smile as he disembowels himself with the family Katana.

Was that OTT? Or am I just having a BAD DAY!

Just a wee bit OTT.... seriously.

We have both system's... PS3, PS4 & X-box 1... would have a 360, but it bit the dust some month's ago... I have my PC..

It is a shame that Sony isn't playing nice, I'm sure Beth didn't come up and say that both system's would get mod's without some encouragement from both Sony and Microsoft...So somewhere along the line they changed their minds.

I would like to hear Sony's take on the issue before laying the blame. Bethesda have made some great games but their interaction with customers (or should I say the lack of it) is absolutely terrible, and therefore I'm not entirely sympathetic towards them at this point. How often do you see devs responding here to bug reports or improvement suggestions?

Also let's just remind ourselves of this from Pete Hines himself: https://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/748765030242394112

I'm considering buying a cheap Xbox and trading in my PS4 copy of Fallout 4 and getting a second hand Xbox copy instead. I want to play Elite Dangerous so it wouldn't be a waste of money. There are still some amazing games on PS4 so I'm not going to abandon it over this.

Finally someone else with some rationality. Bethesda is throwing a statement out there to get instant fan support in an attempt to strong arm. If you always only look at one side of the coin, you'll never know the whole story.

What is "proper mod support" according to Bethesda? When did Sony cut off the process to say No? Or was it them at all ending it? What compromises have been proposed? If you cant define these things, then all Bethesda's intent to blame someone else (Sony) is essentially hear-say.

As usual, Bethesda offers no important details, just a statement that is at face value is a subjective opinion. When was the last time they have done something to actually trust these face-value statements?

As a loyal fan and customer, I'm going to pull out that card like so many other people do, and demand that we deserve a better explanation. So for now blame is equally shared between both parties until proven otherwise.

Well sadly....the young-un only gets one big xmas pressie....and not of "console cost" proportions every year either (nor me!)

He loves FO4 and Skyrim

So this is kinda a real big deal breaker for him.... seriously

............................

Also....thank you "Gone Fission" for the Pete Hines quote at your post #37

This is precisely the kind of 'confidence' Bethesda paraded around, that inspired us to feel ok about purchasing the PS4 last Xmas.....instead of Xbox1.

And as I have bemoaned in other posts on this.....Bethedsa should simply NOT have made mod support look like a dead cert if there was a question mark hanging over it.....

I Agree Darksun..

unfortunately, many people seem to pick their favorite Studio like they pick a religion, thinking because they like it its incapable of wrong and that anything bad must be the other guys fault..

the fact is, we don't know how negotiations broke down (or how they even progressed in the first place) or who the first to walk away from the bargaining table was.. we really don't have enough info to realistically start blaming Sony as the sole cause..

Exactly. I'm pissed off at both companies right now. I've had a night to sleep on it and cool off (though rolling a j-cig and having a few gin and ginger ales helped too), but I wake up and my opinion is still the same. The only difference I see is that Bethesda is throwing out apologies and blame while Sony says nothing, which is shady to me on both counts. In my experience, apologizing while blaming someone else is a defense mechanism, one rooted in guilt of some degree. Silence is almost, if not just as, bad. It has been 24 hours and NO word from Sony. They are not countering Bethesda's statement nor are they submitting to it. Either they are too proud to dignify Beths comments with a response, or too ashamed to admit their own [censored]-up.

[censored] 'em both for now.

I mean, there is another console in the market that is capable of running mods with no issues with the company behind it. Whereas with this console they're seemingly are unable to do it. What gives? What's so different about this process compared to with the Xbox and Microsoft? I find it difficult to give part of the blame to Bethesda when the idea of mods on console is already a working reality elsewhere. I'd say it's safe to assume it is definitely something on Sony's side of things that is taking issue with modding. Otherwise, this whole fiasco of PS4 mods wouldn't exist in the first place.

And this is coming from someone who is the farthest from holding any favoritism for Bethesda.

I'm going to say this probably is not all of Sony's fault. I'm sure they are looking at how well Skyrim and Fallout have performed on the PS3-PS4 and how Bethesda has treated PS3-PS4 players. Honestly I sort of see them cutting this off before it became to late. Bethesda has no legal obligation to make sure Sony and its players get the support they need when it comes to player made mods. How could Bethesda even promise "support" They have done nothing for me and the mod I use from Nexus for my PC. We had mods even before the creation kits came out.

I'm just saying Bethesda has a rather well known history with screwing over PS3-PS4 players. Including patches that made the game worse, DLC that was worse then on the xbox and PC when it came to reliability. And PS3-PS4 players always get the stuff last. Why is that? Its obvious to anyone who paid attention these last few years. Bethesda has never had an invested interest in Sony. So why should Sony trust them now?

I would love to see the whole picture. But for now I kinda applaud Sony for taking a stand. It has not changed my mind about my purchases of PS3-PS4 games and I will continue to do so.

Maybe it has to do with Bethesda Game Studios video games being buggy, but Epic Games had to jump through so many hoops with SONY so SONY would allow mods for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) version of Unreal Tournament III on the PlayStation 3 (PS3).

PSN wasn't brought down because of console security.

it was actually, it was several years back now (2009 or 10 IIRC).. a group of people figured out how to mod their PS3s (and 360s) with a highly customized linux distro (back when you still could.. they have since patched out that security flaw allowing you to throw linux on them so easily, and this was one of the many reasons) allowing them to far more easily DDoS the service..

Ah, ok. I thought the reference was to when Sony (see Ballowers, no all-caps needed ;) ) closed down PSN because customer info was stolen.

Seriously? Sony demanded Bethesda QA and guarantee every third-party mod? What part of "third party" does Sony not understand?

That's just plain idiocy.
