PS4 mods. Pondering thoughts over a tapered pond..

Post » Sat Oct 29, 2016 10:26 pm

So I'm not too concerned about the lack of mods or graphics regarding the consoles, but what always does get me is the immersion factor.

Basically I have a few mods on mind if you think the PS4/XB1 would have them.

-When vampires attack/run for your lives

-alternate start

-Open cities

-Kill every NPC

-SkyUI

-iHUD

Can you see any of these mods being added or something very similar added to the consoles?

These are primary mods I don't believe I could play this game anymore without.

Maybe kill every NPC assuming a script isn't involved. But the rest would all use external assets, which Sony won't allow. For Xbox one, most would be fine as external assets are allowe3d by Microsoft, but I doubt Open Cities would be on consoles due to extra hardware requirements.

In fact, them even appearing on the consoles would be down to whether the author wants to port them. Heck, there's no guarantee the original modders will be around to update them for PC SkyrimSE.

Personally, I'm only interested in quality of life mods, such as (as you mentioned) run for your lives, or things like destruction scaling.

I'm afraid with the limitations being put on the Ps4, Sony gamers such as myself don't have much to look forward to in the mod department.

It's hard to do anything but speculate now without stats, but it doesn't look good.

Thank you for the input everyone. That seems to be in line with what else I've read. I think I just may pass on purchasing the game. I had a gaming PC, and I'm not sure I want to invest the time/money into a new PC again at the moment just for Skyrim SE and BF1.

Xbox One will likely get most of those mods and Open Cities and alternate start are already there waiting.

on PS4 sadly there is nothing there yet. I do not know if it is open for the Beta Testers or not.

I have had to remove one post. Let me remind everyone that the discussion of harming or killing children is a subject not permitted on these forums.

Thanks for understanding.

Open Cities and Alternate Start already HAS been added to the mod library on Beth.net, so you don't have to worry about that. I wouldn't mind some cheater mods, just for the sake of housing construction. Maybe even an unofficial patch of sorts.

They haven't been added for PS4 and probably won't be because of the no external assets limitation.

Random Vampire Attacks in Towns Disabled by Quarn is the one, but i don't know if you can find it for a console.

Mods on PS4 is nothing but a token gesture on Sony's behalf. They probably saw the outrage and how people weren't touching the PS4 version of Skyrim SE as much as people were pre-ordering the XB1 and PC versions.

Well I made such a mod today (completely stops random vampire attacks and eclipse attacks) and also made a simple fixpack that stops weapons and shields from being dropped when NPCs die, stops Atronach stone/perk from breaking summoning spells, fixes a few perks, adds some missing crafting recipes (silver weapons and a few others now can be tempered) and a couple other minor fixes.

I don't have SSE yet, but once I get it, I can convert these to PS4 and upload them, assuming someone doesn't beat me to it. I also plan on uploading a few of my other mods for PS4.

This is also one of the mods on my wish list, I loathe the random Vampire attacks, so it would be very nice to see them stopped. I'm also hoping for a mod that allows you to cheat your ass off (I think after having played Skyrim for well over 800 hours on the 360, I'm entitled to cheat a little :liplick: )

Another thing I was hoping for was of course the Unofficial Skyrim Patch, but sadly it seems this won't be a possibility according to the creator of it. Although we could TRY to petition Sony to get it up. I think Sony made the decision for no external assets is two-fold:

1) Strict copyright laws in Japan (I don't think Sony wants to get sued by Disney Japan, because some one modded in Light Sabers in Skyrim)

2) Preventing mods of an erotic nature (God knows how many Erotic mods I have seen the past years for Skyrim)

Seeing as how the Unofficial Patch despite using External Assets, doesn't infringe upon any of the two points I mentioned, it might be still be a possibility, however slight it might be.

Man, seeing mods like Open Cities and Alternate Start are swaying me to buying an Xbox. Think I might sell my old PS3 and its games to help towards the cost.

Everything except the last 2 should work, you can't import any textures to make a custom ui with on ps4 but I know all the other ones are possible if the modder is willing to work hard enough.

Mods on Xbox have risen to 38 since yesterday and still there are none for PS4. What's going on there?

The easiest explanation is modders who got a beta access to mods are PC/Xbox users. It would be logical, as the modding kit works only on PC, and very few PS4 players own a PC anymore.

However, I'm not one of them, so just trying to guess.

I also read in a mod notes that the modder will not make mods for PS4 as he is always using external assets, unless Sony change his policy.

I think this won't happen, as external assets poses too much legal and security problems.

Where is the evidence that Xbox users are more likely to own a PC than PS4 users?

Just guessing, me and my friends on PS4 does not own a Windows PC anymore.

PC is Microsoft, Xbox is Microsoft, I find logical if you own one, you'll be inclined to own the second.

Most likely the CK simply hasn't been updated for PS4 mods as they will be. The CK when it allowed PS4 uploads still allowed for external assets to be uploaded to the PS4 area of Beth.net.

It needs to be updated for the new PS4 restrictions to probably prevent uploading with an external asset and since there's been nothing in the last couple of patch notes for the CK, I'm guessing it's still disabled for PS4 uploads.
