PSA: We need to support each other and just have fun!

Too many people like you in PC gaming that are willing to let big budget gaming die for the sake of cheap games. I was looking at Linus on Youtube and I couldn't believe my ears when he said he waits for a game to go on Steam sale for like $15. The man makes more than a half a million a year. It's sad. As an individual it makes sense, but it does not make sense for a developer to cater to PC gaming at all.

What they don't tell you is that the big budget games get a very small portion of the overall PC revenue. Most PC gamers are making purchases for like $10-$5 bucks. I'm glad that CDPROJECT RED was willing to step up and tell the truth. That PC gaming can't sustain the development costs of AAA games.

PC gamers are the only ones hurt by it at the end of the day. They blame it on console's being the "target platform", but the truth is that they aren't a priority because they don't buy AAA games at the same rate as console gamers.

Eventually? PC

*I simply will not buy a game console, or any games for them; which is a shame since I thought this looked pretty cool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=68&v=jXU5k4U8x20

(If that comes out for PC, I'll buy it ~unless it's multiplayer only, that is. That's a deal-breaker.)

In my opinionisationalism,Console gamers are the only people who truly give a damn about gameplay. Why else would someone buy a machine so limited? Yes we all want a massive world with a great story and no bugs, but no matter what platform you play on, there will never be a perfect game. I couldn't believe how much [censored] Unity got for bugs. I never noticed the micro stutter on fallout 3. Nothing ever satisfies PC gamers it seems.

However, PC gamers are not the sole problem. We have become impatient and we live in a very instant world.

Consoles have been part of the core of home gaming since the 1970's. They're an integral part of the entire existence of "video games". Never understood the whole "platform wars" thing.

(For the record, I've been playing video games on computer since 1980, and on console since just about the same time. Gaming's come a long way.)

This feels a lot like "music was better in my day! The new stuff the kids are listening to is garbage!" Eh, there's plenty of crap made in every decade, it's just most of it gets forgotten. And the same is true of videogames. There were a bunch of stinkers back in the 80's, that people paid full price for. Knowing even less about them, since there were less review sources, no internet, etc.

The one big change of this era is online-everything. There's good & bad sides to consoles being able to download patches. On the one hand, they can actually fix stuff (too bad if your cartridge game went out with an error... that thing was forever). On the other hand, they know they can fix things, so QA may not be as rigorous as it could be. (Of course, there's also the part where programs are vastly more complex, so bugfixing isn't quite as easy as it was when a game was under 200k in size.)

Again, like I said in my original post, I use the PC for graphic work in addition to gaming - I use a lot of RAM intensive programs like Photoshop and 3ds Max. In Photoshop I often draw at 4K resolutions with dozens of layers. You need a lot of RAM to do that smoothly and have responsive tablet feedback. Plus I like to have my internet browser open at the same time and listen to music. I'm aware most games for the foreseeable future will never touch that much RAM.

Hmm. I might consider going with the 980ti. It is the same price as two 970s, and would allow me to add a second card in the future to upgrade. I'll do some more research before I pull the trigger on my build.

I voted XBox One because I have a 360 and an account already, so I will stick with Microsoft. I am not interested in switching to Sony as I don't want to have to create yet another online account to manage. I don't do PC because I use a Macbook. I play very few games and I want to just be able to pop them in and enjoy, not worry if my PC is able to handle the graphics or other such concerns. Plus if there is an issue with the game, I can be sure a patch is coming and that I won't need to search for it, the console will handle it for me when I turn the game on.

There have been many times that I see a game, and see that its core activity the same as another game by the same (or different) company; and I've had people post back shocked that I cannot see the obvious ~that they are nothing like each other. You get statements like, "Can I cast fireballs in that game, I think not! lol"... and of course the fiction is moot... the game offers the same activity... It's like two people wearing the same shirt, where one is a slightly different shade of whatever the other one's color is... They are the same shirt; have the same pocket; have the same defects in places... same badly designed collar.

Games these days really do seem to be out to offer simplified [though technically advanced] experiences open to all. Think of it this way... Imagine a game filled with language puns, and it's part of the fun... imagine it refined so that people with 1/8 the vocabulary [in that language] still get all the puns... Accessible to everyone, but testing the limits for no one. The problem with broadly targeted AAA titles is that they are by definition food-court fare, and never like the fare from a neighborhood restaurant... you never get any cuisine that specialized out of a food court... The food court fare is within tolerance for everyone. The example of local cuisine you get there, probably tastes like cardboard to the locals. This applies to many things, movies, text books, printed novels, D&D; educational toys... car parts... video games; (and video graphics cards :chaos:).

"Music was better in my day! The new stuff the kids are listening to is garbage!", means that what they hear is missing what they respect.

No. Not enough people like me are willing to let big budget gaming die. If more people spoke with their wallet rather than complaining online and still buying the same dog [censored] titles these companies are feeding them year after year, we wouldn't have games like DA2 and Sim City 2015.

I never understood the whole 'consoles have been around' thing. Why should that matter?

Um no its not. I can think of plenty of games made twenty years ago that have ten times the value of any game made this decade.

Another thing I realized is if any last gen game I want to play, I can just buy for my PC

Speaking of, if Fallout 4's specs arn't demanding, I will also get it for PC.

I love my Xbox One. I also love my PC, but it's too old now to hold up to newer games. I'll be playing on my Xbox for a good long while. I don't have a problem with anybody else's choice of platform. BUT. I have a really big problem with the superiority and entitlement that some PC gamers around here often excrete in explosive sprays of watery, brown, putrid foulness.
