PSM3 Magazine June 2011

Post » Thu Apr 22, 2010 9:46 pm

Okay so I picked up PSM3 the other day and I wasn't going to post a thread originally but I've now decided to because a) I just realized two shots are new (derp) and B) there's some interesting mentions that I think might interest some people here - although I can't vouch for how accurate they are.

Anywho, the two shots are
1) A new shot of the Draugr, it's in the same place as we've seen them but we can now see the PC's sword in hand and one of them is visibly being pushed back from an attack; it looks pretty good. Looks as though he's actually responding to being hit in the face with a sword. The sword is also covered in blood. I only realized this was new when I read it in another thread about it being in this month's GI haha.
2) The other new one is of the PC in third person view; I'm obliged to say this is in game as it's over the shoulder - the player is bracing themself with the sword in their left hand and the sheild in front of them with their right - a deagon is then swooping down from the top right of the shot. Looks very cool.

Now for the info; things are a little scarece this month - most of it is just more of what we already know. Although the author of the article mentions were creatures twice; one mention he is saying he is very certain there will be a return of Werewolves (I'm not sure how much basis he has on this) and secondly when talking about enemies he lists; Frost Trolls, Ice Wraiths and Were-Yeti's. I was thinking maybe they got the shot of the frost troll mistaken for some sort of were creature, but the fact they mention the frost troll aswell makes this quite interesting...
Quote: "animals such as bears and big cats make a return, but more exotic wildlife such as frost trolls, ice wraiths and were yetis will also challenge your combat skills."

So yeah; sorry there wasn't much as the last time I posted magazine info; I guess it's just gonna be slow news untill E3.

Thanks for the post, were-creatures sounds more like speculation than anything else.

Hmm, this info really does seem to indicate that at least some type of were creature will be in Skyrim..

I really hope we'll be able turn into one :)

The exact quote is "animals such as bears and big cats make a return, but more exotic wildlife such as frost trolls, ice wraiths and were yetis will also challenge your combat skills."
So I don't know; they sounds pretty certain. But I do think the inclusion of werewolves specifically is speculation, albeit they seem to strongly believe they'll be in.

Looks like GI has 3 new pics this month and 2 of them you described are in your magazine too. You didn't get the outdoor forest screen?

Sadly not; It's a rather small article.

Were-yeti? I remember hearing that before. It was someone mistaking the troll to be a were-yeti.

That's what I thought it could be - but the fact they mentioned it aswell as the frost troll seems odd.

O.M.G. If this is true, screw W2, SR all the way!!!

Thanks for this glimmer of hope!!

Wtf is a were yeti?

I mean, I get the yeti, and I get werecreatures, but I would have thought they'd be mutually exclusive.

Perhaps that is a werecreature unique to Skyrim......sort of like the werebear being mostly a Skyrim werecreature.....

I guess it'd be kinda cool to be able to turn into a yeti.... At least I think that'd be better than a wereboar

Were-Yeti's.

Is this a translation from a foreign language magazine?

If it is originally in English, it would seem odd to call something a were creature unless it had both human and animal form. This suggests lycanthropy is more likely to be included in the game, unless the journalist simply made up that creature name.

but were-yeti seems pretty bizarre IMO. a yeti is already humanoid. That's like having a were-orsimer, were-giant or were-dunmer.

Nope, English language british magazine.
I agree though, it is a strange name; but I'm just passing on what I've read, especially being as they named it separate to the troll I figured it's worth discussion.

Wait, so both this magazine and the newest IGN mentioned a werecreature? If they both mentioned the same thing, I think that is a really good sign that we have confirmation!

it might be a jab towards this article

http://www.thedragonborn.com/game-details/tes-v-skyrim-behind-the-scenes-video-with-todd-howard-screenshots-and-anolysis/

if you highlight the frost troll picture it says wereyeti and underneath the pic they acknowledged the correction to frost troll.

I would disagree. The yeti is not inherently humanoid at all. If it exists in the real world, it is accepted as an apelike creature that is secretive and has adapted to the harsh cold environment. In TES, it could be much the same. That means it is like any natural creature, thus it could be something a person in the TES universe could transform into. Though I do agree, it seems strange, and I highly doubt it's likely, especially compared to werewolves and werebears.

It seems that it wouldn't make sense to transform into a hybrid of a simian creature and a person, when the races of Tamriel are already so "humanoid". I think this whole wereyeti thing could be a silly mistake or something, but I could also be proven wrong. I think either way is possible.

Isn't that what we've been seeing in most of the screenshots and the gameplay trailer?
