Yeah, but they put the Skyrim trailer up on the PS Store for free just the day before the PSN went down. How's that for torture (to you fellow Elder Scrolls fans, not specifically you, bekked)? :P

I think anonymous need to put their uses on actually helping the world than upsetting millions of gamers. Sheesh so immature .
Let me think in the mindset of the anonymous

" HEY guyz letts make PSN notz work so pplz can lke us!"

other anonymous
"Ya dudesz millionz can't play therez games , they thanks us latters for takkening down sony!"

I don't understand

Through a PS3? Yes, but the quality is crap. I can view it on a computer, as well, but then the screen is too small and the sound is too poor. I could also connect the computer to the TV while playing the trailer, but the quality is strangely bad, still. I could also transfer the HD mp4 to my PS3, and I have, but not everyone will do so. Then, on top of all that, the PSN version has edited sound. I'm absolutely sure of it. They edited some of the ambient background noise and some of the sounds that come from performing specific actions. So, that specific, edited version of the trailer cannot be viewed without the PS Store being up and running. Now comes the torture. :P

Its maintenance due to hacking, thus it is unscheduled maintenance that is why we didnt get a notice ahead of time.

Now the hackers did this just after Mortal Kombat 2011 came out...

Not a good fanbase to piss off.

Since my O.G. topic got hi-jacked I guess I'll post here:

Looks like kotaku has confirmed that psn is down due to an http://kotaku.com/#!5794990/sony-confirms-external-intrusion-is-behind-psn-outage

I wonder if any one / group will take the credit for bringing down psn.

Anon did this?
Good lawd, they say they need to actually do something and what do they do? They hack PSN. Anon's biggest goal is to get internet acces to North-Korea and all they're doing is hacking PSN and making people angry.
Trolls indeed...

Edit: wait, did they really do this? I'm confused.

Hmmm, so someone has the technical intelligence, the general 'l33tness' and the good old know-how and ability how to hack a massive system. Does that person
1-hack into a far away bank somewhere and transfer large funds of money to their own accounts, leading to wealth, warm beaches and hot bi*ches?
Or
2-Attack the online portion of a gaming console's social network so a couple of thousand disgruntled gamers sit on their sofas shout angrily for a while untill they go do something else?

Yeah, Anonymous posted an official posting on their AnonOps site about it. http://www.anonnews.org/uploads/notus.png?do-not-hotlink,-hotlinking-attempts-will-be-blocked,-point-to-the-press-release-instead Though, they did say when the Playstation Network comes back up, they will conduct their next attack. *Though not on the PSN directly.*

Anon didn't take it down. Sony did, didn't tell anyone and then blamed it on Anon.

Blaming it on Anon:

Sony EU PSN manager James Gallagher suggested that an attack by outsiders - such as the shadowy loose internet coalition Anonymous.
-From The Escapist news post.

Sony coming clean:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/04/22/update-on-playstation-network-qriocity-services/

They turned it off to fix whatever Anon used to bring it down in the first place.

It'll be back up as soon as Amazon has all their volumes sorted, give it time.

Yeah, Amazon seemed to have support for Sony Entertainment Online, but I am not entirely sure if Amazon's downtime is directly associated with PSN.

There has been an external intrusion, probably this very week, seeing it's such short notice - that's the statement this announcement made. Anon conducted a planned DDoS attack. That's not an intrusion.
