PSN still down.

I'm unsure if this has been posted, but it looks like http://www.gamearena.com.au/news/read.php/5093497?latest=1. If you use your PSN password/username for anything else you may want to change it ASAP, as well as possibly checking credit cards if you've used them for PSN purchases.

Uh... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, where did I make an assumption? All I did was ask you a question.

You did, you insinuated that you were saying that Sony's system was terrible and MS was better. Which you of course have no proof of. Yes all you did do was ask a question, of course with a meaning behind it and all I did was pretty much the same thing.

Yeah not sure where they're getting the "Leagues ahead of Sony" bit.

I took what he said and took it not out of context but up a level. Correct he never said it, but he said somethign along those lines.

Ah, now you're assuming I was insinuating, when in actual fact there was no hidden meaning and what I asked was what I meant.

Sony messed up. Get over it. If XBL had a similar vulnerability it would have been compromised in the same way by now. Nobody is saying one is better than the other (why do people always turn it into that...ridiculous), just that in this instance Sony made a rather large mistake. Theoretically no system is un-hackable, but this is a case of Sony failing to do their due diligence.

Looks like Sony screwed up big time.

Hopefully your credit card info didn't get leaked.

To be fair, this is pretty funny if you didn't enter your real data into PSN, or if you don't use PSN.

Yeah, but you wouldn't be laughing if you did or you do use PSN. I'm not as upset about not being able to play online as I am that my Identity could be stolen. This is just ridiculous, I don't understand how Sony could let this happen. If I have to pay for PSN to ensure this does not happen again, fine.

The Senator is suggesting Sony pay for 2 years of credit checks for PSN members.

The entire PSN database being acquired isn't proof enough? Quit being so blind and defensive, it's not a battle about which console is "better", Sony just screwed up their network security.

I'm entirely pro-Sony, but Microsoft has a much better online community and online security. They pay for the important online access, of course its going to be better. I prefer Sony for literally everything else, but lets not start a console war.

Im nto assuming you insinuated, to me you insinuated, simple as that.

@Nami88

And all I am sayign is that it would be entirely possible for this to have happened to MS, they just did not target MS.

MS would be their FIRST target if possible, because of all the XBL Gold subscriptions. If MS thought there was a security risk, they would be down too trying to fix it. PSN had a security risk, XBL does not.

So, I've never used a credit card on the PSN, before, as my mom never trusts online gaming services (and to think I thought she was just being paranoid), only pre-paid PSN cards. So, aside from credit card data, what could be leaked or lost that would cause me harm... my account password, or something?

Well they have your name and address, that alone could probably cause some trouble. Not sure what they could do without your SSN, but if they can hack PSN I'm sure they can find your SSN.

True, you didn't, but if they can hack Sony how hard do you think it would be for the same hacker(s) to get your SSN with your name and address? Probably not hard, but I'm just assuming.
