PSN update *info on accounts*

They do. Look at this.

'Getting any recourse could be tough legally though, as Sony stuck a clause within its terms of service that absolves it of any culpability in the event of data loss. "We exclude all liability for loss of data or unauthorized access to your data, Sony Online Network account or Sony Online Network wallet and for damage caused to your software or hardware as a result of using or accessing Sony Online Network," it reads.'

It's pisses me off.

I can't believe that. Just ridiculous.

They were giving me trouble when I wanted credit card info off my account.

Time cards ftw

Same here. They said that they couldn't take them off until my gold subscription was up (since it was tied to that card, stupid, i know). Even the representative thought it was stupid. So my dad just went and got a pre-paid $5 card and replaced it with that

So the lawsuit filed against them today is null and void then?

Who knows what the hell is gonna happen. It svcks so badly. It took them the best part of a week to even discover the hackers, and to tell anyone about them. I'm hearing that Puerto Rico has had a pretty hard hit in terms of the attack, but I don't know for sure. Either way, Sony are talking out of their asses, and nobody can do a thing about it at the moment. For the time being, the attack seems to have been stopped, which means whatever details the hackers did get, if any, were cut off at some point. It's just hard to say at this point what the consequences of Sony's neglect will be.

I'll post anything else if I find something.

Maybe, maybe not. There are data security laws you are legally obliged to follow if you deal with data like CC details, and that this has happened at all is heavily indicative that these were not followed. In such a case, it's sony that don't have a leg to stand on.

Well I certainly hope they take account for something. It's just not right.

People who have bought things from Sony and/or stored Credit Card information should check their accounts:

Doesn't really matter, what matters is, it's happened and well I would like to know if my CC has actually been compromised. So I hope they find out that information and get it out to us fast, cause if the word is official and they do..then I'm probably gonna cancel my card right away just so I don't have to deal with any fraud issues.

Well you did agree to them at one point whether buying your PS3 or by signing up for PSN, right? So no one can really complain as it is something everyone agreed to if you actually read it.

I agree; we should all act respectful & give Sony all the time they need to fix it.

While some guy has the CC info of 77 million people?
I don't give a flying [censored] about the servers. The fact I have to cancel my CC before I go on my two week trip really pisses me off.

Sony must be completely stressing out at the moment; & I also feel the stress. So what if you can't go on your little trip? Some people actually work 6 days a week & now they can't enjoy their weekend because of this.

Weekends happen at the end of every week, trips are usually planned in advance....

IGN has a new update. Sony says they believe credit info has not been compromised and they are in the process of moving all of the data to a new, more secure network.
