Psychic guards/towns people

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 9:08 pm

Anybody else wondering if Bethesda is addressing the issue of people automatically knowing you killed someone despite no witnesses and an instant death? I can't tell you how infuriating that was. I know with the introduction of Radiant Story, you kill somebody and their brother may come after you for revenge. If I kill the dude in his home in the middle of the night the only person who should know I did it was me.

Anybody else agree?

Agreed...I would not play oblivion without Reneer's Guard overhaul mod..my hopes are that it's fixed by default this time around.

It's called a search bar. Use it. I don't mean to be rude, but there's like a million threads on this. I'm pretty sure Bethesda is addressing this issue.

Seing as how we fans have raged about this for a number of years, they'd be fools not to address this. And Bethesda aren't fools.

I appreciate the help, and I don't mean to be crass. But how would I go about searching such an specific issue? "Clairvoyant guard issue"? "Omniscience"? I looked through the first few pages and saw no mention of it so thats why i posted it.

I played on 360 so I didn't have the luxury of mods. Wheres the fun in being an assassin if you gain infamy for something nobody should know about?

We already have a thread about this, and it's actually has the exact same threat title lol.

It's just a subject that's extremely popular on the forums, like spears. Either way, I'm 90% certain that Bethesda will fix this :)

Ya know, I never did get the whole spear thing. I suppose they are neat. I thought there'd be a bigger out cry for thrown weapons.

I don't know.... we raged about it pretty hard in Morrowind, and the guards did not change in Oblivion. It's one of the reasons I can't get as excited about Skyrim as Oblivion - the disappointment had been too strong and I'm afraid to have any expectations at all. I'll probably wait till the mod community has gathered some good contents (and the price has gone down) before purchasing :P

It's really no where near that bad in Morrowind, somehow it seemed far worse in Oblivion.

I feel like there needed to be a witness for you to be arrested in vanilla Morrowind. In oblivion you could kill someone in one hit while they were sleeping and the Guards suddenly knew it.

IMO it was worse too, so that might not be a good sign for Skyrim.

What I did was I raised every single guards disposition when I came across one and then I only got in trouble for assaults and murders.
Assaults and Murders are damn obvious so it didn't bother me.
But I agree, Psychic guards are fairly obnoxious, and I would love for it to be addressed.
But It wouldn't be gamebreaking if it wasn't changed.

It never bothered me actually. It's a video game, not everything can be realistic. Besides... if I'm going to have a guard chase me down and try to penalize me, I'd rather get it over with than have someone barge at me out of the blue later on when I'm in the middle of an important quest (and subsequently cause all kinds of problems).

That's one thing I hated about red dead redemption, too chaotic. You never knew what that random event was. Oops, you just shot a sherrif and his deputy. but they looked like criminals! Oh well. -karma for you!

Edit: Besides, it provided a means for you to have to be creative about how you go about situations where you may have to murder someone or steal something. What's the fun in getting away with everything? No challenge in that at all.
