PUBLIC BURNINGs?

Post » Mon Oct 11, 2010 10:01 am

Then again, we have already seen a public execution in TES. Just play the Bloodmoon main quest
Spoiler
, as you have the chance to sentence someone to be eaten by wolves.

Spoiler
Well, attacked and killed, anyway. The spirit wolves disappear once the guilty party dies. There isn't anything about being eaten, iirc.

I do not have a desire to see even a fake human being or creature suffer being burned alive, drawn-and-quartered, or undergo any other cruel, malicious form of execution. Corporal punishment is one thing, but something as cruel as burning someone at the stake is barbarically gratuitous.

Skrym is the land of the NORDS.

Yes, there were crucifixions in FNV. Other than being crucified, there was no other visible signs of torture. No graphic step by step descriptions of what happens when someone is burning to death. Do I think someone would actually post about that in glowing terms, and mention its too bad there isn't a way to get the smells too, for immersion? Yes. Stopping by the pub for a tankard and watching someone die in a painful grisly manner has already been described as entertainment. Would *that* level of description be appropriate for the forums? No.

I know what you're getting at and I'm all for it but short of being upfront and explicit, the implied violence of the "Lottery" is especially grisly.

Anyway regarding the topic, why waste a perfectly good swordarm when you can chuck along the path of a rampaging dragon :P.

Now you're taking what I said too literal.
Spoiler
The wolves bit him to death, that's close enough.

It was still a public execution

I doubt they'll ever include the blood eagle. Whether it holds basis in historical truths or not(it's only mentioned once in and icelandic saga), even if a few historical people were reportedly executed this way.

Don't read this if you're squeamish;

Spoiler
I have nothing against virtual graphic violence, but... tearing a dude's ribcage open and ripping his lungs out of his flailing husk.. eh, as savage a rep as the Nords no doubt got, if they ever did something like that it'd even make the Daedra think twice.

I dont think its Impossible, Fallout: NV had crucified people, and the dead bodies of people lying in burning piles.

True. No one there treated it as the entertainment special of the week though, and it didn't have the level of detail it seems Skyrim will have. But you are correct. It was a public execution.

True, you are right about that. It was more of a religious manner than a public spectacle.

well if a murdering family killer is strong (evil enough) to kill then he should be strong enough to say...Fight a pack of werewolves barehanded and in the buff....lets see how he fights against a family who can fight back and remember its fair because the werewolves are barehanded and not wearing clothing or armor either. ^_^

I would love to see public executions, which do not necessarily need to be burnings. Watching a man being hanged or even watching his head being lopped off for his crimes would be great entertainment (as it would have been in the middle ages), and it would add immersion as you said. This would also help add to the darker tone of Skyrim, and would work with the changes they are making perfectly.

How about public vampire burnings. Once in a while when you enter a town just before sunrise the town is gathered somewhere and on center stage there is a heavilly restrained vampire and the town is waiting for him or her to burn up in the sun.

Correct me if I'm wrong but only heretics are burned at the stake, and criminals are hung.

Yes I think it would be cool but how about there are several methods of execution and they are displayed outside of the dungeon. I think it would be cool having them randomly pick one of several ways you are about to die (i heard you start in prison and are about to be executed) and then you just go oh [censored]! Then you have your big escape when a dragon attacks the town and your friend (game companion you start with) takes his chance rescues you he tosses you a weapon and you jump on horses and you have to fight your way out on horseback from this big town. The tutorial starts when he gives you the weapon up until then is a video. I think it could work very well. Or maby not a dragon attacking the town but freedom fighters because the town is a well known supporter of the empire?

Ohh how about in the arena you have the option to execute a prisoner and you go into the arena and he's chained down calling you out and you can preform a special on him depending on where your standing

I want variety with my executions.

Drowning
Hanging
Flaying
The Spinning Wheel
Boiling Oil
Hemlock - other ways to poison.
Lashing
Beheading(I think we got this due to concept art)
Crushing/Pressing
Stoning
Sawing
Catapulting
Blood Eagle

I know a new execution for Skyrim: The mudcrab pitt. Victim is tied down in a pitt or such and the mudcrabs are released on him.

or you know just have a guy wear a wierd hair style shine a torch in the victims face while he keeps repeating the same things to him. Until he loses the will to live.

Oh I almost forgot.....Snu Snu.

Varying degrees of showmanship and pain depending on the region and the severity of the crime.

snu snu lol..

I'm going toassumieyou are joking if not then...

what the [censored] ?! that is not immersion that is torture ! and a great way to get the game banned of the market

being someone who for a breif time was interested in this stuff I find this kind of post sick....ugh

but again I assume you are joking...
