Pure Mage and The Atronach Stone

Post » Wed Jul 23, 2014 2:55 pm

I recently (finally) got my enchanting to 80 (5/5 enchanter) and alteration to 70, so my magic resistance is at +30%. With an enchanters elixir I should be able to enchant a ring and gloves with +62 regen and +62 magika respectively. My thinking is that the extra magika plus the magika regen in excess (12) of the atronach penalty (-50) should negate the penalty right? It should actually increase? Yes, I know it sounds more than a little stupid, but my head started to hurt and wanted to make sure I was on the right track. The goal is to stay in robes but eliminate as much squishiness as possible in regards to magic. I have +37 frost resistance boots plus Nord racial bonus as well, and the impact perk keeps most melee enemies at bay. Thanks in advance!

The spell absorption from the atronach stone doesn't stack up with regular magic resistance at all.

Save yourself some trouble and get the lord stone instead for 25% more magic resistance.

The agent of mara perk(check the wiki) will give you an additional 15%, and if you want to play as a breton you'll have 25% more. That way you don't need anything else to reach top magic resistance.

However, bretons have an ability that you can combine with the atonach stone to be completely immune to magic for a short time, but that's not worth it.

Since you're playing as a nord you'll need one resist magic enchantment to be as resistant as possible when combined with the other magic resistant stuff. This way you'll always recieve a little bit magical damage, but it's permanent, so it's the best option.

The Lord Stone also gives an extra 50 points to your armor protection, something useful even for mages. I always take that stone once I'm finished leveling my magic skills.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know they didn't stack. I'll have to enchant something else with the magic resistance as suggested. Damn I thought I had this nailed!
