[Rel] Put it in its Place : Enhanced Grabbing

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:39 pm

Nothing out of place. Apparently, some other mod's addding the bounty.

Hm. I don't have any mods that would add bounties. Except for maybe Reneer's Guard Overhaul.

EDIT: Nope. I disabled the guard overhaul and I'm still getting the same problem.

:shifty:

EDIT : Strange. If you can use the CS, try this out :
  • Load Enhanced Grabbing.esp
  • Open the script zzPiiiPGrabQS
  • Add a ; before the line that has the following bit of code : player.modPCMiscStat 28 -1
  • Save and run the game

Alright, I'll try that out tomorrow.

EDIT: So you mean like:

;
player.modPCMiscStat 28 -1

Like that?

Or like this:

;player.modPCMiscStat 28 -1

Um, it seems I can't save a script. It says, "array_var" not found. Is that a common problem?

Ah, I see. Thank you.

Um, what kind of utilities are there to open up the CS with OBSE?

You just need to change the shortcut to read "obse_loader.exe -editor", if I recall correctly.

The CS shortcut?
Okay, I assume it's the obse_loader I need to change that to. Do I make a shortcut for that, then rename it?

The CS shortcut?

Or you could open it with Wrye Bash. If you have it installed it should be down in the bottom left corner. Make sure the green box is checked in and then click on the CS symbol.

Cool, thanks.

Eh, I changed that little part in the script and unfortunately, it did not fix the problem.

I just wanted to say that this Mod is excellent. I installed it, but like with many Mods, i don`t go crazy using it until I feel like it later.

Well, I just decided to pick up the inkwell on the table in front of the nice lady at the Tiber septim hotel. Had a look, then dropped it on the floor. She did not pick up the inkwell, just stared at me. I picked up the inkwell and put it on the desk, "Every little bit helps!" She says.

Very nice, I like the way she didn`t instantly pick up the inkwell to my command, maybe the Mod didn`t mean that, but I thought it was very Human, made her look like she was waiting to see if I really was rude enough to just leave the inkwell there.

Then i went further back to a different shelf and dropped a vase on the floor. "How rude," she says, and pops up to pick up the vase and put it exactly back where it was. Very smart. this is exactly what i thought vanilla Oblivion was supposed to do and I remember my dissappointment when I picked up an apple in a tavern and everyone went crazy.

Great Mod and thanks for just this tiny bit of realistic immersion.

Means PiiiP has nothing to do with that issue.

Thank you for the kind words and the heart-warming story :P (It really is !). Made a few changes to that behaviour in 0.5. Owner responsibility is taken into account while deciding if the fellow will PiiiP. Irresponsible gits stare at and verbally abuse/praise you, but don't replace the misplaced item. I've been thinking about taking item gold value into consideration as well. Finally, I plan to have a different handling method for magically oriented NPCs - They snap their fingers and the item gets replaced automatically.

What do you think ?

That sounds awesome. There should also be magic effects when they zap it back to place too.

Means PiiiP has nothing to do with that issue.

Darn. I guess it's the movable objects mod's fault.

Goes without saying :P Just need to convince Qaazaq that his anims will be plagiarized for the greater good.

It's kind of strange though. The movable objects mod doesn't have any ESPs. So, I'm a bit baffled as to how it's the culprit.

If a chest is off limits (red handed) and PiiiP has the item "black-listed" (I think that's what the log meant) wouldn't the game treat moving it as exactly the same as the vanilla method....i.e. it makes you a criminal?

That makes sense. Perhaps there can be some sort of compatibility patch made?

Item gold value is a good idea. The more expensive the item the more they will pick it up or get angry with the Player. So you get the neatniks and the `that`s a very expensive item` people.

I don`t really think Mages should just snap there fingers to put an item back. I would think mages don`t waste energy magicka like that, but it`s just me. I reckon mages are more likely to stare angrily at the Player and get angrier even faster than ordinary people, then use a spell to eject you from the premises or call the guard (but most likely spell you out). A lot of Mages are traditionally quite snooty and most are not going to bend down to pick up stuff at the Player`s whim or do magical tricks for them. Actually, I got magically kicked out of the mages Guild once in vanilla, now I think about it. I also remember a mage actually taking an item back off me too once.

That's correct, but I don't think the game has crime handling for statics.

Valid points. How about tying the behaviour with energy level ? Lazy buggers abusing magic (I can recall a few who would) wouldn't be too far-fetched an idea, I'd say.

Okay, I don't really know about this, but I thought maybe making the items movable would also make the game treat them as minor value items...perhaps because of building ownership. I guess not, though.

Too bad you can't script it so more powerful and arrogant mages would cast "Command Humanoid" on you and make you pick the item up and put it back. :)

I don't know if this is the right place but I thought I'd ask other PIIP users if they have an idea.

My character recently acquired battlehorn castle and upgraded the training room and bedroom.

I was moving stuff in and tried putting a meteoric axe into the display case in the bedroom using the grab key (and this here mod) - when the maid Rona Benanius got upset and acted as if I were stealing then attacked me. For somereason the staff of the castle don't have persuasion options so she is pissed at me after I clocked her. Cant repair that relationship and if I grab while in there she again thinks I'm stealing.

I cannot find any reports of her acting this was as a bug on UESP wiki, so then started to think that it may be this mod.

any ideas?

==============

edit - so disabling this mod and she stopped getting mad and attacking.

Please enable debug mode in the INI file, reproduce the bug and post the console dump here. Use ConScribe for the latter.
