PvP content or the lack of it...

Post » Tue Mar 04, 2014 12:10 pm

What Elder Scrolls Online lacks the most is small – scale PvP.

It is terribly unfair that the PvE content is full and complete and the PvP one is NOT.

To make it easier for you to understand... To a PvPer Cyrodil is what a map full of basic quest is to a PvEer. How long would a PvE player play this game if there wasnt any additional content like group/raid dungeons that require specific tactics? Not very long! Thats why PvPers will leave this game shortly after release or they wont buy it at all.

Massive PvP is fun but its not enough to satisfy a PvP player. PvPer needs some kind of competition, a place where he/she can test his skill, some kind of challenge...

You have created such a large and magnificient game, but if you dont add two – three mini games it will never be complete, because at this moment PvP content is unfinished!

I'm sure that simple mini games would save this game.

Mini Games like maybe capture the flag? opps it already has that with capturing elder scrolls.... how about Hunting for rare resources with the threat death? check has it... how about small scale pvp on the outskirts of the maps away from the keeps? yup got it.

I did small scale 4v4 combat in my time last Beta. I also did large scale sieges and zerging. Everything is out there, they just won't hold your hand and let you queue for 15min + rewards games while you stand semi-afk in town.

Yep.

I'm really getting tired of the threads from people that have played 1 or 2 weekends and suddenly think they know everything about the game. There are tons and tons of PvP besides large scale keep battles and zerg vs zerg.

i guess its because that to enter cyrodiil you need to be 10 and i saw alot of people sunday night saying "is the beta extend to monday? i wont have time to reach 10". A story quest needed to leave the island for the daggerfall covenant was broken (fixed on the last ptr) so it was a serious load of logout/login to make it work, alot of people stopped playing there or some who like to take their time didnt have time to reach lvl 10. Or people were simply testing the pve side because they didnt have enough time with the beta. Im one of these guys, took like 98% of my time for the pve side. Only went in pvp at the end and mostly did nothing there of importance ( because i was looking around, see how it work).

I think once the game will be out and running, cyrodiil will be much alive. such pvp

Ugh.

Cyrodiil has everything you could want. Want small scale capture the flag? There's plenty of Lumber Mills, Mines, and Farms. Want large scale conquest? Keeps. Want competitive arena type play? 8v8 small man roam.

It wont feel so empty when everyone's there for end game. It's really a sandbox, I think people will be surprised.

So enlighten me please...

Dont tell me about capturing small objects, strategic points, resources and ganking groups. What I'm talking about is PURE group on group skill based fights.

really" what is with people. "if pvp is not first and the most impotent thing in the game. then the game is crap!" if you want to really kill other people that bad. go play battlefield. I am so sick and tired of people cumming into great games and want to turn it into mind numbing pvping. "we have to have factions, and they have to be killing each other. Also once part of a faction you can;t join others." I remember playing EQ1 where you had players from different races working together, and if you wanted to go into another races town you could gain rep with them. it was a true open game. not the "We must kill each other!" pvpers want. If you want to beat up some other player so bad. lets make a game ware everyone is a caveman with a club hitting other players on the head with it. the last one standing can jump and down saying "Me am greatest. Me am greatest!"

Probably isn't going to be happening anytime soon. So start posting how the game is going to fail within 2 weeks and that you are leaving. Make sure to write 6 paragraphs explaining why first though, we all want to read it.

Learn to read!

I said that the game was maginificient but it LACKS small - scale PvP. Maybe PvEers dont see it but most of the PvPers do and if they dont notice it now they will soon :)

You dismiss capturing small objectives, strategic points, and resources wth small groups. So, what exactly are you looking for? If you're looking for ONLY 4 on 4 battles, than simply issue a challenge to another group and fight it out. As I said, there are many available options for small groups in Cyrodiil.

I agree with OP all those responses are just from blind fan boys. I bought game today as I liked beta but I am not blind as you.

PVP is joke, its fun to siege, running arround etc and it has good atmosfere but its not pvp. Sorry but 100vs100 is not pvp you will die instantly at any time all you do is looking if you are not first to not die. You will shoot few times and all are dead or your raid is dead. I played pvp 10+ hours and had interesting fights only few times, mostly its just zerg of 100+ roflstomp everything so fast that you barely shoot from bow few times. I wonder majority of skills has some cc or snare but you dont need anything becouse everyone just die under second.

Zerg is not pvp for me and this game seriously need some kind of group pvp such as duels arena or 2v2 4v4 to actually develop some skill only thing I learned in there how to not die. Also might be good if Cryrodil would be just for 24 players so then groups play would be much better.

Also what is bad in Cryrodil that you dont see other players on map only your raid members so you dont have clue what others do.

Nah its not there I was in raid of 20 players (small group) and we were atacking mines then like 80 enemies apears and rofl stomp us and that happen many times. So again PVP in current form is just annyoing zerg. Not to mention the running but it gets better with faster horses I quess.

Completely untrue. I'm not bashing, but don't judge the entire game on the 1 or 2 weekends that you've gotten to play.

The video below shows what can happen when a group of skilled and tactical players knows what they're doing in PvP. You can't really tell from the PoV of the video, but the group of about 16 players killed, literally, hundreds of players from the other 2 factions by locking down the only travel route between the 2 alliances.

to be honest what drive me to do pvp usually (i do love pvp but without rewards its less fun) is special armor set for the appearance ( i dont care for the stats).

I love gear hunting, i love wardrobe system/transmog so i can look like a pretty princess (i actually always play male character but you know what im saying)

Go to any of the towns/villages in Cyrodiil that offer repeatable PvE quests. Bruma for example has several of these quests, and it is a hotbed for small scale PvP. You have the people that want to gank those that are questing, those that try to do the quests w/o getting ganked, and those that hunt down gankers just because they can. The PvP in Bruma is thrilling because it's often 1 vs 1, 1 vs 2, 2 vs 2, etc.

So if you are just interested in small scale PvP where you can test your skills, then try Bruma and all the other quest villages. You will find plenty of small scale action there.

How do we know ZOS aren't planning something small scale, that they might include with future content releases or expansions?

Zenimax would be complete idiots if they were to release everything they had planned at launch.

Also, Cyrodiil is a 3 faction warzone. I've never heard of a 4v4 war.
