I'm just looking into which would be the better choice side by side for FPS conservation and overall appearance.

There is a QTP3 Redimized Reduced aswell. The difference in quality isn't that noticeable to me personally, atleast not for the Lite version of Reduced. Performance-wise it's quite the difference however (Though personally I've gone over to CorePCs Vibrant)

I've used QTP3 Reduced by bobmarkinson (or something like that!) for a long time, and I liked it quite a bit. I could run it on my laptop which had a 256 MB Nvidia graphics card with about 30 FPS if I didn't use any other mods. It stuttered a bit when I did use other mods, so eventually I had to uninstall it.

Currently, I'm using Redimized, and actually, I can't really tell the difference. I mean I see that there's a difference, but it's a difference that doesn't bother me at all. But then I'm also quite happy with the vanilla textures most of the time, so maybe I'm the wrong person to ask. Still... I'd say that if you're only the tiniest bit concerned about FPS, but still want high quality textures, then go with QTP3 Reduced.

I have used both redimized and reduced. I could notice a difference (tiny) between the two. Redimized looked better for me.
Performance is slightly better on Reduced versions. If you plan on playing on laptops that would seem the better choice. For normal computer, you can barely notice the difference.

The only thing I don't like in the QTP packs is a floor tiling. You can see the example in the testinghall floor. I think it's a bug that never got fixed.

Use PyFFI on the meshes and that will give a nice performance boost.

FYI, I installed QTP3 Redimized, QTP3R patch, UOP, QTP3UOP compatibility patch and then the Unofficial Patch Supplementals.

Funny you mention laptops ulrim, because that's exactly what I'm using. Utilizing ATI mobility radeon 5650, 4 GB CPU with quad core... it's not high end by any means, more of a mid range one. But I appreciate all the advice :goodjob: I actually didn't realize reduced could be used along with redimized... is there a different procedure in installing it that way?

Most computing technology today has reached the point where it can handle Oblivion with pretty much no trouble (of course, start adding mods and high-res textures, and you're going to test that).

For using reduced with redimized... just install the full redimized package first (or whatever pieces of it you want to use), then install whatever reduced packages you want over that, and you're good.

Yeah, that is so true Thomas, it ran so easily until I added FCOM and the other array of mods I implimented.

But thanks for that info, I had hoped it would be that easy to install :)

For install, make BAIN archives and use Wrye Bash to install them.

For the order I would go with:

QTP3 Redimized, QTP3R patch, QTP Reduced versions you want, UOP, QTP3UOP patch (I d/k if there are specific patches for the reduced versions) and Supplementals.
