Qarls High texture mod and me.

Post » Mon Apr 04, 2011 4:04 pm

Im just wondering if...

E8400 @ 3Ghz
windows SP3, so 3.25 GB of ram
GTX 260 stock

Can run Qarls at a good enough FPS etc?

Cause everytime i try, its lag and stutter are not fun...I know oblivion is not entirely stable though.
Any suggestions welcome.

download qarls texture pack 3 REDMIZED. not the original.

i run it on a 4ghz quad core with 4gb ram and a 5770 just fine. although i have about 400 other mods so my framerate isnt outstanding.

If that card has 1GB RAM, you could run QTP3, but I also recommend the "Redimized" version. I do not think the slightly higher quality of QTP3 original is worth the performance decrease.

Edit: Install the "fixed" QTP3 optimized meshes on top of QTP3R, followed by QTP3R patch, followed by UOP, followed by QTP3+UOP patch (then install the optimized meshes last.) http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/lists/pyffiedmodslist <-- #4 on the first list

Agree with Tom that you should use the Redimized. I use it even though I may not need it because the difference really isn't that great and there will probably be other mods you want to install.

However, one question is what do you consider a "good enough FPS etc"? I'm currently getting 15+ in the cities with a bunch of mods installed and that's fine with me. Might not be fine with you, tho.

For stuttering: try Sky Captains excellent Stutter Remover and/or Streamline. Both require OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) which you should be running anyway if you're gonna use mods.

Oh, and make sure you read the readmes. It's a bit of reading but lots of education stuff in there! :)

You can browse http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/baininstallguide to learn how to install OBSE and those OBSE plugins GothGirl Danielle mentioned. See the "sl.ini" page (under INI settings) to properly setup the Streamline INI.

Maybe it was because i was using REVWD in conjunction?

Also i did use Redimized, im also wondering, which order should I install World textures(textures in general)? Oblivion>DLC>Texures or Unnofficial patchs?

Actually nevermind, i didnt read right.

RAEVWD is murder. Well, if you use all of it, it can be. Especially in conjunction with QTP3, and a bunch of other hefty things. I should know. ;)

FWIW, I also use an e8400 (but OCd in this case) on Win7 x64, with 4GB, and an HD5850 w/ 1GB. It runs everything I've thrown at it, including heavily modded Oblivion, but then, even though it's not the most hardcoe PC out there (by any means) it's no slouch either.

I would suggest gradually adding such mods, and experimenting with settings (Oblivion's, and mods') until it's just right for you.

Also, check out things like Streamline, Obliviion Stutter Remover, PyFFI, etc.

edit: oops, missed a post that makes some of what I've said redundant...

And SkyRanger (sorry, not Captain) made http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23208.

Two different mods. :)

Well thanks for the replies, ive done a tdt with vanilla oblivion.

Vsync at 60, drops to 48 when its loading in the next bunch of cells, is this normal?

Also "Install the "fixed" QTP3 optimized meshes on top of QTP3R, followed by QTP3R patch, followed by UOP, followed by QTP3+UOP patch (then install the optimized meshes last.)"

Im confused at the last part, I thought i already installed thos optimized meshes?

The FPS should drop when loading extra cells. If you are worried about 48FPS, you have not added enough mods. I was trying to clear up my instructions. The fixed optimized mesh patch should be installed last, otherwise you would've just overwritten the optimized meshes, which makes no sense. I apologize if my wording confused you.
