I stopped taking him seriously after he said BF3 copied from COD. Jokes on him because the battlefield series were out a few years before COD was ever released.

He's correct when he says it doesn't need multiplayer, it'd be nice but it isn't needed. Bethesda makes great open world games but they're horrible at patches, slow as hell as well.

see i think the multiplayer would honestly sour the experience and i know it wouldn't be required but i just dont think it fits and if its not needed and doesnt fit dont do it

It's all hit and miss really. I would love if Bethesda made TES an MMO in some sort of way with first person and quests like these. I think it would really dominate whatever competition there is. Could you imagine PvP?

it would be pretty awful things would need balancing to work and then that would hurt the single player and if it didnt use your single player char then whats the point?

Just b/c you're first doesn't mean you thought of everything.

If you thought cake and then someone said "Lets put chocolate icing on it!" and then the guy who invented cake said "Lets put vanilla icing on it!" They still copied eventhough they invented cake.

Well of course... Maybe it's just some grudge I have against COD fans. It's the same game everytime with nothing but new maps and guns but they still pay $60 for it.

The idea that just because it works well for one game - popular and hyped, no less - it would work for all of them, is faulty, but I mostly agree with the illation, though for different reasons. In the end, success is, to a degree, simply a question of quality and popularity. svcky SP only games will mostly fail just as much as great SP only games will succeed. I agree that if they want me to buy and keep ther games, they should make them good enough so that I would want to keep them, not punish me for reselling them when it is their fault I don't see a reason to keep them. Skyrim is among the games I definitely won't sell.

Why do people hate on MP so much? It's not like you're forced to play those modi, is it? I don't like to play them, but they never prevented me from enjoying BioShock 2 or Dead Space 2 at all, in fact, I never even activated that stupid online pass for the latter. As long as the SP part doesn't have to suffer from it, I'm fine with it. Also, the conclusion "games don't need MP" is kind of silly. Games aren't needed, either, to begin with. He says it himself, Skyrim is "a game you can play endlessly and also worth restarting", sure it would sell without an MP. On the other hand, I cannot see anyone buy a CoD game for its single player campaign. (Then again, I have no idea why people buy those games at all, but that's a different story ...)

Online passes, DLC codes, DLC rip-offs ect.: Batman Arkham City was the last game I bought (unless for a decently reduced price) that had such shenanigans. People get what they deserve, if the gaming community is willing to put up with that BS it's only fair they get that BS. Popular slogan: vote with your wallet. Same with all the "piracy preventions" (only stops pirates until they're finished laughing their a**** off) and forced online connections/activations for SP games and all off that crazy crap. People whine and moan now, but they should've just not bought the games when all of it started. It's always the same: "Stop complaining, it's not that bad yaddayadda", until it's that bad.

I believe that much of that hate comes from the fact that when a game adds MP it takes away time from producing a good SP experience. Like FIFA and NHL(there are certainly better examples but these two I've played). They added MP at one point and since then the SP experience is pretty much unchanged while they put more and more effort into balancing and coming up with new MP modes.

Beth can't even balance a single player game right I shudder to think what a multiplayer game would end up like!!

As long as the SP part doesn't have to suffer from it, I'm fine with it.

It inevitably does though. Game devs have a certain budget, and if that budget is split between single/multi player then there is going to be less budget for single player.

Oh, right, let's assume he means the original concept, not the copy-paste features like PERKS, LEVELING, and so on.

I already made a thread with this video like last week.

But anyway there are a lot of cry babies on this site who can't wait to attack Bethesda because of their patch problems. I mean seriously?

I strongly agree with him I prefer single player and also think DLC is exploitation of gamers and is equal to putting tape worms in Mcdonalds so you have to come back for more sooner.

There's already an active thread about this video, you're welcome to continue this discussion http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1295342-skyrim-proves-a-lot-of-points-in-gamers-favor/.

Also, it is generally not permissible to link to profane content like this. We'll allow it if it's related to a game covered here, but only if a link redirect is used. This is covered quite explicitly, pun intended, in the rules thread.
