Quad core laptop question

Post » Thu Oct 30, 2014 4:13 pm

Hi,

My son has a laptop with a quad core CPU and a discreet GPU but it is the kind of GPU that shares the system memory. He can play Skyrim but it does lag. I believe there are ways to instruct the computer to use multiple CPU's to share a load but I do not know how to do this and if it will even work on a game. He is using W8 with a quad 1.9 Ghz CPU, 8 gb ram and the AMD A7 GPU.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Ok, I was off on some of that stuff. Was going by memory.

Processor is AMD A6-6310 1.8 Ghz Intel quad core w AMD Radeon R4 Graphics. 4Gb ram. 64bit system.

You can try this utility: http://coderbag.com/Programming-C/Disable-CPU-Core-Parking-Utility

However keep in mind, with your R4 integrated GPU, you should run Skyrim at resolutions lower than 1280x720 and at low preset.

You can try this too: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15123/?

The program: http://www.hialgo.com/Downloads.html
