QuakeCon Info Thread

Post » Fri Aug 05, 2011 2:38 pm

I'm hoping we'll get a ton more details tomorrow with the presentation. I have a quake-done-quick package that gives me priority access to the presentations so I'll make sure to get there extra early and try to get front row seating if possible!

Yeah that'd be really awesome man , any info would be greatly appreciated ... :celebration:

Unfortunately no, the one photo I've seen of the GI guys appeared to be in one of the rooms here (we're at a huge Hilton hotel). I haven't seen Todd or Pete or any of the Bethesda staff wandering around today either. The staff members at the Rage booth appear to be volunteers from a clan called PMS (all women lol)

Hmm. Can we expect new footage? I thought it was all closed to journalists and we would have to wait. I had thought it was just a repeat of the E3 Demo of wich 15 minutes of that 30 was shown.

I don't know if we'll get any footage, but it's not the same E3 demo. Journalists are playing the game from the beginning and get to do whatever they want.

Good to see that there were journalists actually doing different things even if this guy wasn't. Hopefully they will all have a good report out. Thanks for the link.

Todd: "I'm f***ing terrified"

Ahahaha xD

[ There were a couple of lock-ups in this alpha build for other journalists, but I didn't encounter any bugs myself. Hines says that some quirks, like a rock floating a foot in the air, are probably inevitable in a game with such a dizzyingly broad spectrum of possible actions, but they are working hard to get better at quality assurance – and in particular to make sure the number of bugs that actually halt your progress is as close to zero as reasonably possible. ]

Floating rocks and lockup's, the game still sounds juicy <3

Best bit of info EVER:

You don't have to bank perks immediately though – if you are trawling through the constellations and spot a perk you want that requires a higher attribute value than one you have at the moment (Destruction 40 vs. your current Destruction 21, for example), you can simply wait until you've met that requirement.

Skills are attributes, they're just not traditional attributes. Argument for another thread. ;) Point is, that was something I was worried about. This is Daggerfall style leveling.

No worries guys, I'll report every thing I possibly can. We thankfully do have internet at QuakeCon so I'll try to make a detailed post right after the presentation. Skyrim was nearly non-existent to the public so far today outside of merchandise so I'm really hoping that's different tomorrow.

What I wouldn't do to meet Todd, Pete, and GStaff and shake their hands! :)

It is confirmed! You CAN raid beehives for honeycombs! I swear if they didn't implement this I would not buy the game! ;) But honestly that sounds like a really cool little thing to do.

I hope someone who plays Skyrim can write a blog about it containing a description of what an Argonian looks like!!! Or draw it if they have photographic memory.

From what I've read it was 13 people that played Skyrim and only one of the 13 wrote his/her article. I'm expecting more shortly, which means it's going to be hell to wait for them.

*rage* I just realized the eurogamer guy had access to the whole skill list... and didn't bother finding out the last stealth skill.

And there is a reason i dont go anymore.

That and no DC++ servers makes the whole event completely pointless.
