Quakecon will feature Skyrim

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/07/07/doom-4-not-listed-for-quakecon-2011.aspx

"Id's John Carmack will give the keynote and Bethesda's Todd Howard will show off The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, while Prey 2 (shown above) and Rage will also be in attendance. It's possible that Doom 4 will be a surprise for convention goers during Carmack's keynote, but we'll just have to wait and see."

Well, can't wait for Aug. 4-7. I hope it's not the same e3 30 minute video lol.
When is the australian demo going to be shown?

I'm glad we are getting another demo, I was kinda hoping that the Public would be able to play some sort of Demo of Skyrim but that will probably occur in Sept or early Oct.

Obviously, considering that Zenimax, Bethesda's parent company, owns Quakecon.

The same demo would be dissapointing and pretty lazy from Bethesda. Plus from a marketing perspective it would make no impact as it's already on the internet for all to see.

I'd say new stuff is inbound.

Especially since the 30 minute demo is the same exact demo they've been showing since January to Game Informer.

It won't be the same demo...

"In addition to the keynote and other special events (more on that soon), this year’s event will give you a chance to see some great presentations on our upcoming titles, including Todd Howard’s first public presentation of Skyrim!!"

EDIT: Unless of course the E3 demo was "Todd Howard's first public presentation", then yes, that would be pretty disappointing.

I don't think they'll ever have a public hands on demo for Skyrim. After QuakeCon, it'll be just 3 months from launch. At least we should be seeing more gameplay then. I wonder when the press will be going hands on?

I wonder what they will demo next, maybe they'll show off a town like Whiterun, or Solitude this time around.

That's what I want to see. Hopefully more NPC interaction, some buying/selling with merchants, and the crime system. I wonder how long the demo will be? Does IGN and Gamespot do live streaming for QuakeCon, or does G4TV cover it like they do for E3? I wonder how long it'll take for Beth to upload the presentation for us?

I think the Beth Blog will have some link to it or it'll make it's way to Youtube barring Softworks/Zenimax taking it down.

I hope they wont be showing too much. I like the way they are going about it this time around. With Oblivion, they revealed so much stuff you kind of knew everything. Things like the crime system... I wanna learn how it works from the game manual.

I hope they will let as see more gameplay this time.
Show us something we haven't seen, like for example how smithing will work. :)

I want to make a comment about Doom too.
Why most sites keep saying "unfortunately we didn't see Doom 4 this time,we hope we will see it next time" ?
John Carmack stated clearly that the development of Doom will start AFTER Rage is out.
Until Rage comes out,the game won't even exist in papers.

I hope they finally show off character customization and finally put to rest exactly what kind of legs the beast races have.

That would be awesome!

On another note, has anyone here ever been to Quakecon before?

I hope they would show us the whole 30 minute demo instead the 10 minutes video that played in various sites.

What E3 30 minute demo? I recall it being only 14 minutes.

The 30 min. was invite only behind closed doors.

Unfortunately the demo shown behind those aforementioned doors was not considered a public demo.
I hope this isn't one of those sneaky word plays to get people's attention.

Hopefully though, we will get to see some brand new footage and see some of the new gameplay elements.

On another note, has anyone here ever been to Quakecon before?

I has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like.
