Quest Alias Question

Post » Thu May 09, 2013 4:19 pm

I have a question for anyone with knowledge of the Quest Alias and Quest Objectives tab in the CK

I am trying to alter a vanilla radiant quest in the CK slightly, namely 'Favor110'

The default Objective is:

Bring one to

I am trying to change it to:

Retreive from for

I am trying to add another Alias that will fill with the location of 'QuestItem'

For example: if 'QuestItem' is located inside of Halted Stream Camp, the would fill with Halted Stream Camp

Hopefully that explanation is clear enough to understand my question. Any help is appreciated!

Create a new location alias named what you want. For its fill type, use Reference Alias Location. Choose the alias, and tick stores text/uses stores text, and allow reserved :)

Make sure the loc alias is lower down your alias stack than the item its the location for.

I actually tried that first, and for some reason it would not fill, just [...]

I will take a second look at the Location Alias window, will report back

EDIT: What should I put into the "Keyword" drop down menu?

You could try LocTypeHabitation. See what that does :)

No dice with the Keyword - LocTypeHabitation or LocTypeDwelling

Hmmm

What was the console command again for showing the quest filling info?

Thanks for helping sir

sqv YourQuestName

Are you sure your loc alias is lower down in your alias list?

Ok check out the quest CR01. It's a companions radiant quest. It has it's aliases the other way round, location first then fills a ref alias from there.

But it uses caves, so look at the location aliases and see what keywords setup they have on there.

Wiki page for the quest http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Animal_Extermination_(A)

In the CK it's called CR01.

Also check you've spelt the alias name right in your objective. I was troubleshooting for like an hour once before i realised that lol.

Lol yeah I keep checking that like every 10 minutes.

Under SQV the alias fills with:

LOC 'QuestItemLocation'-> NONE

Also, when reading the SQV, the console outputs a 'number code' for each alias

Example: 0001f881

Where can I look up what the code is? UESP doesn't seem to work for that code (0001f881)

Is the item in a container? If so i think you have to do the location of the container alias ref, not the item.

I don't beleive it would be a container. It is a mammoths tusk.

Also, I notice the alais: house, is filling with Ysolda's house code when looking at SQV in-game. Although, [...] when doing in the quest objective.

So this shows that the alias house is filling, but it is still showing up with [...]. I wonder why?

Can you use Find matching location and add condition HasSameEditorRefAlias as Alias_QuestItem. Then give a keyword that all locations will have - if there are a number of locations, use the keywords for all the different types and tick the OR. If you are unsure of what the keywords are open up the location and have a look at what are listed.
