Quest Bug: Help Selveni Nethri escape the cave. (miscellaneo

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 3:39 am

During exploration of Southfringe Sanctum. I found a necromancer i agreed to help escape. She is apparently very stupid. I killed everything left in the cave then told her it was safe to leave. I exit then look for my next quest. I still have a "help the dumb necromancer escape" objective in my log so i turn around and go back in. I see her stuck past where I forcibly am ejected into skyrim. she apparently missed the door and has become stuck past it. I cannot get close enough to interact with her. Waiting does not solve anything. I just keeps (literally) dropping her from a few feet off the ground past the exit point. Waiting outside does nothing either.

This was my first "escort" quest i had done where the person didnt actually follow me but waited til things were clear, so I havnt been able to check if it's happened elsewhere.
Any ideas?
Thanks

The same exact thing happened to me.... FUS RO DAH (unrelenting force) that idiot right out of the cave... it worked for me... and it was a pretty hillarious way to end a really frustrating bug.

its a exit door bug, same thing can happen in town. If you try to go through a door the same time, or near the same time as the NPC it will cause them to get shoved behind the door. This is a visual example of what happens. With regular doors, they end up walking off the face of the world or stuck behind the door either standing or pacing (usually pacing). there doesnt seem to be any way to get them unstuck besides loading a save prior to it.

See... but this exact same thing happened to me.... and after about 5 minutes of whining to my friend as he was watching me having the problems.... I just shouted at the npc and it knocked 'em right out of the cave entrance and it said quest updated.

I know 100% for sure that this works in this cave with this particular npc for these reasons...

Not sure if this is an 'exit door bug' as described above. I cleared the dungeon and spoke with the NPC, going through all dialog options ending with "it's safe, leave". She just stood there. I walked away and she remained in the spider cave. I left assuming she'd exit on her own without checking for the quest update. Sometime later (4-8 RT hours) I realized that the quest never updated and I travelled back to the cave to see what's up. As soon as I re-entered the cave the quest updated and was marked as completed. I saw no sign of the NPC before or after my re-entry to the dungeon. Thankfully I didn't have to go through some of the amusing efforts of other folks to shout her out the door.

no thats just another little glitch that can happen once in awhile anywhere in the world, i've seen it happen with followers, where they will just stand there and not follow you even if you tell them to wait then follow. Usually exiting the area your currently in will cause the script to fire off, or fast traveling to a new area. Occationally, live you've noted here, it happens with npc's that are sapose to run out of the area, usually leaving and returning corrects it. Its pretty much like a script wasn't executed that should of been (i.e. make her run from there to the door and exit), but returning, like going back to a bandit camp you didnt kill the bandit at, causes the script to be executed again and the npc does what they were meant to.

Same for me except she was still in there. I'll try shouting at her in game, as shouting at the screen was not effective, although did relieve some stress.

Thanks for all the input

You don't have to use unrelenting force, just anything with a knockback will work. I think I used a fireball (careful not to kill her though) and it knocked her back out of the cave.
