Quest Giver Stopped Talking

I'm just getting the hang of Daggerfall now ( my Dunmer is level 5 ), and I seem to have run into a little snag.

I completed a quest for the Mages Guild requiring me to take an enchanted diamond to someone's house, and use the diamond there, and kill the Daedra that pops out, and then report back (at least, I assume I'm supposed to report back, because as far as I can tell, that's how all quests in Daggerfall work). However, the Mages guild quest giver dude who gave me the quest doesn't do anything when I click "Talk" or even "New Quest" It just exist the little option box and I'm just staring at him. I tried leaving the building, reentering and reloading. Nothing makes him speak up or cough up the money.

Is this a typical pattern for a bug, or what? Should I reload my save before I took the quest and just do a different one? Can I safely ignore it and just take a different Mages Guild as my home-base?

So yeah, some help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Oh, and I'm using .213, questpack, DFQfix, addtext (I believe) and factfix, in case that is helpful at all.

it probably hasnt recorded you as finishing the quest

might have to do with your mods

I remember long time ago afetr beginning a new character, i had a quest in which i was required to kill a spider in a residence.
I went there, killed a spider and went back to the quest giver, and his talk and quest dialogues were not working anymore.

I went to a tavern, got a room for 1 day as i was a bit hurt, and slept until fully healed.
My sleep was interrupted and i had to kill 1 or 2 spiders that were in front of me. A message telling me that i cleaned the residence appeared.
Then i went directly to the original quest giver, and he gave me the reward for it, the quest and talk menu were working again.

It was then that i remembered that after killing the spider at the residence, there was no message telling me that i completed my objective, so the quest was in fact not finished, and as only 1 day went away, it was not yet considered as failed as i had not yet gone over the time limit for completion.

So if the talk and quest button are not working again, it is indeed very likely because your quest is not finished yet.

Try to sleep at a tavern, sometime it summons the remaining enemies there, or if you have no idea what you need to complete it, just travel around until the quest time limit is over and the quest is failed, this way you will be able to talk again to that guy to obtain another quest.

Thanks, Horizon. It's probably something along those lines. It was a little wonky toward the summoning part, because I discovered that, in fact, there was no diamond in my inventory (a scripted event, of some sort, perhaps?) and the daedra was just in a random room.

I suppose I can stand a -3 reputation with the Mages Guild, since I just did two quests for them anyway. So I'll just go on my merry way then.
