I understand Bethesda's reasons for implementing GPS. In Morrowind the directions were sometimes hard to follow (or plain wrong East = West). However, I did not like a magical compass guiding me to the exact location of an item in a cave I've never visited.
Bah. Part of the charm, says I. Some of us should have been sent T-shirts that said "Yeah, I found the cavern of Milk on my own from the in-game directions, so
nyaaaaaahhh! "
(No kidding...I actually did)
:D
I'm almost hearing "Turn right at the next intersection; you have arrived at your location" :shakehead:
;)
Not half as scary as what's going through my head...think about all the middlemen and sponsors and crossover ad deals, then tell me how unlikely this
really is: "Quest directions in TES V sponsored by the directional wizards at TomTom!" Maybe an in-game item said to be an enchanted stone that enables the
GPS Quest Arrow, with a "TES-stylized" TomTom logo.
:P
Optional, please...maybe a "hardcoe mode" of sorts that lets those of us who actually want to play the game turn off all the *cough* "special access" features.
