Weebam-Na says "Donkey Penis" when you ask him about Leyawiin, and the Imperial Legion says "Bastards" a bit.

Hahaha, no its "powdered deer [censored]"! But really its just rated that because of the PC version. The 360 version is squeaky.

I got mad at Elder scrolls last Christmas because of the rating scandal. Since then, I've read that the mods allowing topless characters can be blocked or somehow made inaccessible. I own a Xbox 360 gaming console, and it would be my greatest delight to be playing Oblivion before the end of the year. My family has few qualms about violence, but when it comes to profanity or sixual content, we opt out. Clearly any language PG-13 or above ( F words) sicken us. Can anyone inform me to the sixual content in the game without the topless mod?
Thanks a million!

UruwahiiLC

In Anvil there is a quest about sirens seducing men and then stealing their clothes and valuables when they give in to temptation, but the language i not profane and there i nothing offenive about it, also, UESP Falanu Hlaalu *shudder*
EDIT: The lusty argonian made is more comedic than offensive

In Kvatch, Savlian exults about wiping the "bastards" out. I cringed when I heard that, as my young son was watching. But he is constantly exposed to "Inglourious Bastards" previews, even on Nickelodeon, so, it seems unavoidable.

Games cannot be rated on mods, or interaction with others online. The only things that can be rated is the game, as it comes on the disk, unaltered, else pretty much every game on PC would be AO due to... certain mods.

But there were (apparently) nvde files on the disk, but they're just not used.
I guess just knowing they're there is enough to get the rating up or something :|

Oblivion is suitable for anyone old enough to be able to play it imo (as long as they don't have those mods...).

OT: I doubt you'll have many problems, OP.

"The Real Barenziah" series mentions some things related sixuality as well, but nothing major.

Those books top the lusty agronian maid in sheer dirtyness. So to the op, dont read those two books, prolly should avoid dark brotherhood quest, and stay away from the bookstore in shivering isle bliss. To be on the safe side dont even play this game for a few years untill you are an advlt. Dont go near fallout 3 either. I guess if your young enough you wont understand some of meaning of the drug, six overtones anyway. im kidding over all this is a tame game for its size. Hopefully tes 5 will be full of filth and mature.

The unused female upper body mesh is not what caused the rating to be bumped from T to M. The ESRB discovered that they had been misled regarding the level of gore and disturbing imagery in the game, which they felt was just enough to deserve the M. I can't say I blame them, either. Look at a zombie corpse and anolyze the level of decaying detail displayed on it. Look at the architecture of the Deadlands, where Mehrunes Dagon's towers use flesh-sacks as containers and stretched red sinew and muscle as floors. Look at the whole DB questline, pretty much.

And discounting the zombies, there's still the whole of the Deadlands.

just stay away from the book "The lusty argonian maid".

What he said. :P

Wow. Blood and Gore, Language, Nudity, sixual Themes, Use of Alcohol, Violence
Use of Alcohol, does that refer to the Skooma addicts? Holy... some really take this seriously.

EDIT: I think this site exaggerates it a bit. I searched for "Yu-Gi-Oh", and they have classed it as "Mild Fantasy Violence". Come on, it's a card game. :P

You see people drinking out of mugs. I don't think they're chugging down apple juice... >_>

Edit: Not to mention the very presence of alcohol is enough to sway the rating ;)

Why/when was the rating bumped up?

As far as I know the rating was bumped up because a developer left the nipble graphic in for female characters, although this nipble would never be seen in the vanilla game due to the female underwear, the fact that they released the construction set with the nipble graphic in it ment that it was a modders resource provided by the developers hence available in the original game.

If they had taken this out, even though modders could make their own nipbles it would not have been available in the original game so the rating could have been lower

The official explanation is that the content is more disturbing than what was originally rated (plenty of examples in the Dark Brotherhood). The hidden nvde resources may or may not have figured into the decision, but that's what everybody not familiar with the actual rating decision points to anyway.

Meh, you cant say that the rating change didn't have anything to do with the nvde art file left over in the archive. Lets not forget that this happened very soon after that whole "Hot Coffee" fiasco in grand theft auto. They were just worried about seeing a repeat of that whole mess so they went and upped the rating. Yes, they say it was for the blood and gore too... But I still think that the main reason for the rating change was they were all still cringing after "Hot Coffee"

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has just sent word that the rating assigned to Bethesda's and 2K Games' The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been changed from T (Teen 13+) to M (Mature 17+). "The content causing the ESRB to change the rating involves more detailed depictions of blood and gore than were considered in the original rating, as well as the presence of a locked-out art file or 'skin' that, if accessed through a third party modification to the PC version of the game, allows the user to play with topless versions of female characters," said the ESRB in a release.

I had the same problem, my mom would not by the game because it said sixual content on the back, but the christmas afterward, I convinced her, and she agreed, as long as she could watch me play through the first level, after wards, she was saying, "if I knew this is what oblivion was, I would have bought it for you last year, this isnt so bad", Oblivion should be rated T, The only thing bad about it is the mild violence, blood, and alchol use, (the latter is increadibly minor), There is no cusing, and the only way you can get sixual content is by an illegal hack online,

While I disagree with a lot of the reasons you may have a problem with the game, I'm going to offer a little nugget you may want to know.

In addition to the post on page 1 where the poster offered to PM you a list of characters to avoid and listed how they swear, there is one I noticed he missed. The Guard Captain in Leyawin (who IS involved in a quest) sais "Piss off" after ending a conversation with him. I don't think this one can be avoided.

Cleaned out some unwanted and unnecessary comments/remarks. Please try and keep things civil here before I am forced to hand out warnings and/or suspensions.

My list contained only sixually oriented dialogue for the most part. I did not include a list of swears to any major degree because they are more general and generally less offensive. "Piss off" is hardly considered an above PG-13 swear, as is obvious by its being allowed uncensored on these forums.

There is an NPC in Skingrad, something god Hater, that says GD. Just thought I would throw that out there in case it hasnt been said.

You can also skip through dialogue if you skim through it and see anything you do not like. That is generally what I do because I too am very strict on content.

Yeah you can skip through I really don't stress over the violence because after playing Call of Duty WAW this gore is nothing. Though I don't ignore the fact they use "GD" but I am sure most of us have used it once or twice.
As for the "The Lusty Argonian Maid" I heard about it in MW and read it then  as for "The Real Barenziah" or "Thief of Virtue" will check those out haven't read those.
Though somewhat off topic for stories in the game to read I suggest "Disaster at Ionith", The series "Beggar","Warrior","Thief","King". Now if you really are bothered then I really don't suggest Fallout 3. I will admit I think fallout was one of the best games I have ever played along with The Elder Scrolls. :fallout:.
