Quest reward being class dependant?

Post » Fri Feb 14, 2014 3:44 pm

In consideration of the NDA, I want to approach this subject lightly.. but I ask because it could be quite important.

It is known that you can use any armor or weapon for any character regardless of class; however, does the class I've chosen "pigeon-hole" me into a certain reward for quest completion? For example, let's say I'm Sorcerer but want to wear heavy armor to "Battle mage" as that is my favorite playstyle. Because I am Sorcerer does the armor reward default to light?

Shouldn't there be a "choice" of rewards to select at quest turn-in due to the numerous ways that we can gear our "toons?" Let's say there is a helmet reward.. shouldn't there be a choice of selecting the light, medium or heavy variations?

Unfortunately, we can't answer this without breaking the NDA.

However, speaking from past experience, choice awards usually work best and every MMO should have it.

I hope they will have various choices for rewards. Could be frustrating if u want to wear light armor only and allways end up with heavy or medium armor to choose...

Don't forget that right from the start crafting appears to be a decent source of equipment. So it's very likely that if you are only given plate armor as a reward, you can sell it and craft yourself a robe.

Damn NDA :( Can we revisit this topic once they lift it?

I watched a video that talked more or less about this, for starters you don't know what the quest reward will be until you complete the entire quest line, and no, from the quest shown in the video the reward given did not seem to relate particularly to the class or weapons being used. (a heavy armor chest was given to a dagger wielding sorceror)
