This topic is being drafted to discuss the myriad of quests available to the new player of skyrim, and some quick tips on how to manage them. This is not a quest helper, use primagames extraordinary manual for that.
1)finish whiterun before changing holds. Otherwise you will be fast-travelling everywhere more than flying stupid griffons. The developers added radiant quests that never seem to end so when you get to a point where quest givers are repeating the same quests it's time to move to a new area.
2)Finish the faction quests one at a time otherwise you will be bogged down with 10+ active quests not including the miscellaneous section. This is easy to do, it just takes some restraint. I finished the thieves guild before doing dark brotherhood then imperial order/storm cloak, then main quest.
3)Be careful when completing the acts in the main quest. I don't want to spoil anything but quest chains become unavailable the further the game advances.
4)In Morrowind, the quests almost had to be completed in a certain order or the content would be ruined. For instance, getting too far in the fighters guild disbarred the player from joining the thieves guild and choosing the wrong house disallows the player from joining other houses or contacting the dark brotherhood. Bethesda, as far as I know, has removed this little discrepancy, and the player can join whomever he/she wants whenever they want.
EXPLORE. EXPLORE. EXPLORE. The developers want the players to experience the world they created firsthand, not following the prima guide word for word will make for a more desirable finish.
I bought the collectors edition with game and I only use it for crafting.
Thanks for reading, Email with questions. Have fun! Always remember this game is incredible. Every time I insta-kill an enemy with a sneak attack or standing power attack my eyes bulge, and my heart races. Oh, just for fun. I was sidestepping a two handed Forsworn and used my right hand attack and my character jumped into the air and thrust his blade into the enemies throat just like brad pitt did in Troy. Totally freaking awesome. It also feels freaking good to sneak attack that wicked Master Fire Mage without them even knowing I was there.
