Question about axe bleed effects

It's a straight-forward question, really: Does the amount of bleeding done scale with the weapon's damage?

I have more questions, though, that I'd like to see answered (I would test this all myself, but I'm on the Xbox and it'd take me a while to set up controllable situations to work this all out, so I'm hoping a philanthropic and equally inquisitive soul could figure this all out) :

How long does the bleed last?

If it is based off the weapon damage, what percentage of the the damage is done in bleeding damage per rank? Do power attacks increase the bleeding damage?

If your first attack is stronger than your following attack, does the bleed percentage of your weaker second attack overwrite the first bleed (not necessarily power-attack only, +% damage potions could cause this to happen, too.)

How often is the bleed damage done; every half-second? Every second? Every two seconds? Or is it done in a stream-esque fashion? If it happens more slowly than you can attack, is it possible to inhibit its effect by constantly attack, stanching the timer for a 'tick'?

I know, there's a lot of questions, but I couldn't find any information answering any of these questions around and am a bit inhibited when it comes to testing, as I said earlier, and my want for understanding is irritating me. If anyone knows any answers to any of my questions, I'd love to hear it. Thanks in advance.
