Question about Biography of the Wolf Queen

Post » Tue Sep 22, 2009 10:41 am

Hi everyone. So according to the book Biography of the Wolf Queen, Potema kills her brother Antiochus:

For thirteen years, Antiochus ruled Tamriel, and proved an able leader despite his moral laxity. Several historians point to proof that Potema cast the spell that ended her brother's life, but evidence one way or another is lost in the sands of time. In any event, both she and her son Uriel were visiting the Imperial court in 3E 112 when Antiochus died, and immediately challenged the rule of his daughter and heir, Kintyra.

But in the same book, it is later said that she died 3 years before him:

Potema died after a month long siege on her castle in the year 3E 137 at the age of 90. While she lived, she had been the Wolf Queen of Solitude, Daughter of the Emperor Pelagius II, Wife of King Mantiarco, Aunt of the Empress Kintyra II, Mother of Emperor Uriel III, and Sister of the Emperors Antiochus and Cephorus. Three years after her death, Antiochus died, and his -- and Potema's -- brother Magnus took the throne.

So who died when?

I think it's a typo, it seems that they meant to say Cephorus died three years after Potema.

Notice that Antiochus died in 112, which is not three years away from 137. Either it's a deeper conflict and actually means something, or there is more than one Antiochus.

There seems to be conflicting accounts as to when he died. The http://www.imperial-library.info/obbooks/biography_wolfqueen.shtml says he died in 112 but http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/wolf_queen.shtml says he died in 119.

Sounds like a simple, accidental continuity error to me.

To reply the answer by Tedders out of this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=840109

I think birth in 3E 56 and death in 3E 119 is correct.

Should answer the question.

And given that the death signaled Magnus taking the throne, I think that it probably was a typo and meant Cephorus, as I said before.

Magnus was one of her brothers, i don't think that's a typo since his mentioned several times in the book.

I didn't mean it like that; given that Cephorus was the emperor, it mentioned what when "Antiochus" died three years after Potema, Magnus took the throne; the only way he could have done that was if Cephorus died. And given that the previous sentence mentioned both Antiochus and Cephorus, it would have been easy to accidentally use the wrong name.
