Question about Bosmer

Post » Wed Aug 14, 2013 6:08 am

If Elder Scroll lore supports Bosmer as being cannibalistic, how come my Bosmer can't eat his defeated opponents? They look so yummy!

Werewolves and the Ring of Namira bearer can, my Bosmer should too!

Faendal proclaims himself a Bosmer. Why does he have vegetable garden?
He also has vegetables in his house! ( I think). Hmmm???

Bosmer lore master, front and center! :)

I, the TRUE Champion of Hermaeus Mora, demand answers! :read:

Green Pact only applies to the Bosmer in Valenwood. It's strictly between Y'ffre and the Bosmer.

Not all Bosmer adhere to the Green pact. It is easy to see why those who intermingle with other races are more cosmopolitan and less backward when it comes to their choice of provender. Also note that Bosmer raised among other societies would tend to adopt those same eating habits as the natives. No lore master needed.

That's for harvesting materials and not harming trees inside Valenwood. It does mention anything about the cessation of their religious practice of cannibalism outside of Valenwood. Per the UESPwiki. :)

http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Green_Pact

The Green Pact is a strict code upheld by the Bosmer of Valenwood, which prohibits the use of any wood or vegetable matter of Valenwood as building materials, and requires that Bosmer be strict carnivores.[1] This non-vegetarian practice is part of the Meat Mandate, a section of the pact that also states a Bosmer must eat his fallen enemy; this cannibalistic nature sets them apart religiously from other nations. The Bosmer allegedly made the Green Pact with Y'ffre the Forest Deity in return for Y'ffre's patronage and perhaps protection.[2] As a result, the Bosmer use bone, animal, and insect products widely; imported wood is used when necessary.[1][2] There are also almost no cities or towns built by the Bosmer themselves. Additionally, the Green Pact made the felling of trees by anyone, foreign or native, a crime against the Bosmeri religion.[3]

RP the Namira questline that you've been starving for a good meal. :teehee: The character has been laying low to avoid being hunted like an animal because of his eating habits.

You don't have to be Bosmer to do that.

Spoiler
Finish the Hall of the Dead quest, in Markarth, for the ring.

You just proved the reasoning behind my question! The Green Pact specifically states about the use of wood and vegetables INSIDE of Valenwood. That's why they can import wood or buy wood based products that originate outside of Valenwood. But, the Green Pact, in no way, gives them only in Valenwood provision for cannibalism. They are to practice that at all times according the language of The Green Pact.

The really weird thing with the Green Pact is that the animals the Bosmer eat will still have eaten the plants. And it takes a several larger amount of plants to first have an animal eat them, then eat the animal, than to eat the plants directly. And even if the Bosmer only would eat carnivores, there would still be herbivores at some point down the line.

Conclusion: if you want to spare the plants, eat them yourself. That way, less plants will be consumed.

You're taking it out of context. Notice: "This non-vegetarian practice is part of the Meat Mandate,"

In Valenwood they are expected to eat only meat, and whomever they kill, people included. This is to keep vegetation from being harmed. Nothing is stopping a Bosmer from practicing cannibalism outside Valenwood of course. but it is not required outside of Valenwood.

Bosmer are not the focus of Skyrim. That is why they do not have a unique cannibal feature implemented.

Is this the whole "we eat people to be people" argument cannibal cults use or something? :bonk:

So if a bosmer eats its fallen enemies. what would it do if it killed 50 people?

Also do they only eat a certain amount of a body or all of the body?

It means they got to eat everyone they killed. The punishment for failure to comply is unknown so one can imagine.

I do believe that in a culture where you are forced to eat whomever you kill, there wouldn't be genocides... that's a lot of people to eat... Explains why the Bosmer are so chill and don't go looking for trouble.

I'm thinking a toe or finger from each opponent would suffice. Or that would be one fat Bosmer!

What about undead enemies? Do you have to eat those too?

Or does all humanoid based flesh taste the same once cooked in Skyrim?

Doesn't matter who. Anyone they kill must not go to waste. Though I guess this only applies to people killed in Valenwood.

Quiet you!

Doesn't really specify... though I imagine the undead are an exception due to them being rotten and detrimental to your health and digestive system.

Though you never know...
