Question about a console command

Post » Tue Feb 02, 2016 9:25 pm

PC obviously...

I want to console in Curie's affinity toward me.

I think the command is "targetid.setav ca_affinity".

But I'm too dumb to figure out how this works.

I put Curie's base ID (00027686) in place of "targetid" but that doesn't seem to be right. I also tried the same command followed by "400" thinking that would raise it to the value of 400. That didn't work.

The reference I read also mentioned targeting Curie while in console and then executing the command. The problem with this is I don't understand how to target her while in the console. All I can do while console is open is type in commands.

Any help?

just a guess, but you can target her in "build mode" at a settlement. tried that yet? let me know if it works.

Thanks but that didn't work. Once I open up console everything except the console command line pauses.

Tried to target her before opening console but I can't even figure out how to do that. All I can seem to do is open up the chat options with her or point my rifle at her.

I just don't understand how some of these commands work.

I'm pretty sure it is something obvious that I'm missing.

Just look in her direction and open the console. Click her with the mouse cursor and her id will come up on the screen, Then use setav ca_affinity 400

for your actual question:

first type 102249.getav ca_affinity (the number is curie's ref id, and for the av's name, i assume it's correct, can't tell)

that'll give you the current value

then type 102249.setav ca_affinity 123 (where 123 is stg that relates to the value you just got in a way you want it to come out :-)

and for a little side question:

why on earth would anybody want to cheat curie's affection? all i have to do to make her fall in love is basically sit on a bench and wait :-)

Thanks Wild and s7o.

I was missing clicking on her once console is open to obtain the target ID (or entering it manually like s7o says...I was using the base ID, not the ref id).

I knew it was something simple I was missing. Because that's how I roll.

For RP purposes...

Spoiler
I decided that Candy (my SS) is a lisbian and will only run with female companions. So far I have only teamed up with Piper and Cait.

I read last night that once you get you affinity with Curie high enough you can do a quest to get her a synth body so that would give Candy another companion.

But I don't know if it will work. I think the quest may be unavailable since I already nuked the institute.

you don't need the institute. you need glory or caretaker from the railroad though. or maybe there's backup npc's even for caretaker, dunno

edit: and i don't really think curie will mind, rather unlikely you'll need cheats at all

I think it worked. I consoled 400 affinity points. Nothing.

Took her out and shot a few things and received the quest almost right away.

I'll report back again later.

Thanks all :)

I would suggest not to SET the affinity, but mod it.

In the console, target Curie (ID should be 102249 as noted above).

then type:

getav ca_affinity (to get the current value, example value returned is 299)

then:

modav ca_affinity 200 (adds 200 to the stored value bringing it to 499)

getav ca_affinity (again to confirm new current value)

When I add these values, I always make them 1 less than the trigger point for each level of approval (250, 500, 750, 1000), that way the game engine will not glitch and cause the companion approval system to break for the rest of that play-through (yes I have broke it) because it adds the final amount to trigger the companion event.

This is important. Not only do you not break the approval system, you don't miss triggered quests and you get to hear all the speeches.

Good advice Sunnie and Brewer. Thanks.

I'm at 'admired' now. I'll earn the rest legit to avoid the issues you mention.

At least she now has the synth body so I can equip her properly.

Side question: Does a companion get the same benefit from a scoped rifle that I get? Will they actually make use of a scope?

Side comment: The best fights I have seen was when I equipped Piper with Ashmaker. The comments she shouts as she incinerates men, women and entire buildings are great. Just point her in the right direction and get out of the way.

Companions will not actually snipe, but they will get a partial accuracy benefit the scope provides. Incidentally, if you give companions a recon scope weapon, you will get the recon flagging benefit if they have it equipped.

And yes, Piper has some really funny comments!
