Question about CRAFT....

Post » Fri Jun 18, 2010 6:15 pm

How difficult or is it even allowed by the delevlopers to add a new item to create to CRAFT? I have an item I'd like to add for a mod I'm working on. Is it something I need to have the creators of the mod do for me as to not step on toes?

CRAFT is a modders ressource, it's intended for other modders to develop addons for it.

Ok, thats what I had thought but I wanted to make sure as I did not want to step on any toes messing around with their mod.

Just to clarify with CRAFT . . . you SHOULD NOT be modifying the actual CRAFT.esm or other CRAFT files. CRAFT is designed so that [your mod] has CRAFT as one of it's masters, and you add the additional quest dialoge you need in your individual module. CRAFT comes (I believe) with detailed step-by-step instructions on how to do this.

No, I'd never modify the CRAFT.esm. My mod is complete I just need to add a way to create something for it. When I get home I'll look through the CRAFT readme's.

Actually making a "craft" mod may not be very hard depending on your modding experience. Take a look at a pre-existing craft mod to see how its set up so you get an idea how it all ties together. Off the top of my head "Bobby Pin and Tin Can CRAFTing" uses a pretty standard setup. To eliminate some frustrations for you, a lot of it takes place in the dialogue section, with a few custom msg's and of course your custom items. But again, just off the top of my head, its been a while so dont quote me on it.

Edit: could also always check out my old "craftable medical braces & surgical tubing" or "animated time bomb" they both use craft.
