I apologize if this has been answered already, but the search function on this forum is terrible (two searches and I'm floodlocked for 5 minutes? please).

So going by the story Boone tells of his wife's capture and death, the Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle seems to be the weapon he killed her with. Is that still speculation or is it an accepted fact (or better yet, confirmed by a developer)?

It is in the appropriate location, however, I never go the impression he used anything except his hunting rifle.

Plus if Boone had the Gobi he would have been able to take out the whole camp, haha.

I think it's just considered speculation. But I would go beyond that to say it's heavily implied.

I too thought that as soon as I saw sniper's nest and it's location. To be honest, when I went there, I fully expected Boone to open up a dialog, as happens when you first get near Cottonwood Cove, or near Nelson.

Trouble is, from the spot where the contraption you would lay on is, you can't see anyone in CG. At least, on my machine I can't. I have to get quite a bit closer before I can actually see anyone in order to target them.

There's actually a note about the snipers nest in a communication you can read in a hacked pc at camp golf I believe. No reason to believe that boone was involved with the drop off though, because I think that the snipers nest was meant for the rangers, not the 1st recon.
