Question about houses?

Can I buy more than 1 house? Are there different sizes of houses or all are 1 size (same amount of rooms?)

You can buy all the houses if you want to. They are all different, with the exception of the homesteads (from Hearthfire). The Homesteads all have the same basic options, with small differences between the three. They vanilla homes are all in the style of the city they are located in.

The Hearthfire houses are kind of fun to build - you make decisions about how big they'll be, whether or not you want to configure them for a mage, an alchemist, a warrior, or just a family. The houses in the cities are way more elaborately decorated and (in my opinion) nicer looking because they differ from each other so much.

I really like having at least one Hearthfire house built as a one-room cottage - kind of like a hideout for my villains.

same here.

as well, for me, i really like building the houses in a way that makes sense time-wise. i only build things based on a per-day basis and what i could realistically do. what i don't do is just store things in preparation for when i do build these houses and then hammer em out in a short real-life period of time.

it makes me put actual effort into the entire process, adds a strategic element, and, when finished i actually feel like i accomplished something, lol.

I don't know why Hearthfire gets so little credit as a DLC. Whenever people talk about the official DLCs, they tend to separate Hearthfire as 'just' for immersion. As if that's not an important part of the gaming experience. If it wasn't for immersion, you'd just have some kind of button-mashing shooter.

Hearthfire was also the first DLC I got so maybe that's why I have a soft spot for it.

I like it. For the money it cost, I think it's really cool.

I especially like the carriage-driver option. That's awesome if you don't play with Fast Travel (which I don't).

Agreed. I just wish there was an option for him to hang out where he drops you off. Like a get away ride. "You stay right here. Keep the horse warmed up and when you see us flying out of there with guards on our tail, punch it!"

I know - it's kind of disappointing that he just disappears. I also wish there was an option to send him out to pick up NPCs and bring them over to the house. That would really feel like you're a mob-boss or serious underworld playa.
