Question about Import/Export Settings for Blender

Post » Sun May 30, 2010 5:37 pm

Hi,
can anyone give me the proper import/export settings for .nif files, using blender ? I am trying to modify some armors and although they do show up in Nifskope (after succesful editing), they will only show up very distorted in game...
I used some tutorials of course, but unfortunately the ones i found were only about either weapons or entirely new objects. I am trying to modify already existing armors however.
My goals is basically to remove the leg mesh of an existing armor, then also remove the upperbody part of the body mesh and then in the end combine it, resulting in an armor without the lowerbody armor. (I want to edit the ghost bodysuit, but i want to use the special leg mesh for later use as well)

So if anyone could give me the right import/export settings or could help in any other way,i would appreciate it :)

ok, this isn`t helpful at all, but i am in the same spot:
i editend an armor in blender (removed some vertices), exported as .nif, nifskope-copy&paste-over the tristrips looks good, GECK and ingame don`t ... where is the mistake or what step is missing?

So we are two now who want to know about those settings. I am pretty sure it must be those import/export settings, as the model itself doesnt give me any errors and it shows up perfectly normal in both Blender and Nifskope..

Anyone ? I am not venturing into unknown zones here, now do I ? I cant figure this out on my own. The farthest thing i have achieved today is, that the armor will show up, but it wont show the edited parts, instead there will be nothing on these spots. (armor there, bare body itself gone) In my previous attempts, the armor either didnt show up or it acutally did show up, but the bare skin was giving me a wing like disstortion. I dont know what else to do about it, so can anyone please give me a hand ? I am so close..

A friend of mine has 3Ds Max and i used it to experiment with the meshes a bit further. Seems like its the same story : I need those Import/Export settings, otherwise the mesh will be either not showing up at all, distorted or missing the edited parts...
So again, if anyone could give me those settings, i would be very grateful...its not like i am asking someone to do it for me ;)

What you need to do in Blender, is remove the skeleton from both meshes, do your mesh editing, and when you are done with the meshes, import the skeleton of a .nif , and parent it to the mesh you created. Then, when you export it, make sure you deselect BSFadeNode, Stripify Geometries, and Stitch Strips
