Question about laptop specs and Oblivion

Post » Fri Aug 19, 2011 8:25 pm

So, I'm planning on buying the anniv. edition of Oblivion when it's released in my country (September 2nd). However, I read online that the game doesn't run too well on PCs with multi-core processors. So, I'd like to know whether or not my laptop will run Oblivion decently before I actually buy it - and clock speeds and GPUs aren't really my strongest point of knowledge.

I'm not planning on using hundreds of mods or texture-enhancers; most of the mods I'll use will be bug fixes or will be using vanilla items.

These are my specs;

Intel Core i7 2630QM (2.00 GHz - turbo up to 2.9)
6GB RAM DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1GB
500GB HDD (7200 RPM)
1600x900 resolution
OS: Windows 7

One small, additional question (don't want to make a whole separate thread for this); does the game require you to install GFWL / Steam or can you play without them completely?

Thanks in advance for the help!

That setup should run the game fairly well. When you get it, do NOT install to the default path, put it somewhere like C:\Games\Oblivion. Avoids a bunch of UAC issues.

If you buy a real disk, no other requirements. Install, run, play. :D The way games SHOULD be.
