Question about Monorail

Post » Mon Feb 14, 2011 8:06 am

OK, so I made the mistake of talking to Curtis when looking for leads in the I Put A Spell On You Quest and therefore the monorail was doomed no matter what and I only realised this recently. (I have no saves that go back to start of quest, nor that I would have wanted to since I did a few quests in between).

Anyway, my question, does the monorail ever get repaired and can be used again? I've just finished the quest. I'm not that fussed if I can use it again or not. I'm just interested.

No one is quite sure, I'm not sure if the dialogue changes in the end if it's blown up. But House makes the statement of "I really should do something about that monorail, what with all the new resources at hand. Always bothered me, the imprecision.' So at least on Houses ending we know House fixes it up in some way, but in the NCR, Legion, and Indepent route the ending monorails fate is unknown.

I don't really mean post credits. I mean in-game. But I guess you've sort of answered my question.

Oh, well in game, it's the only thing that happens is the monorail is usable or it blows up, beyond that, nothing interesting.

The Monorail works as an interesting plot device. However once you have the Map Marker for the Strip and for McCarren, it really serves no purpose other than a few less loading zones to get back the NCR Embassy.

In my first game the monorail blew up. I kept hearing complaints from soldiers that they couldn't go gamble. I kept thinking...good, save your money. :) Later in the game, I kept hearing that people got it working again. I was never able to take it to the Strip myself though. So it seemed that it was working but not for me. I believe this was before the patch...not sure if anything changed. It affects nothing other than that as far as I know so you can go on with your game without it.

I started the quest and found the spy and killed him
then I told the Col. he was the one and the Col. said that he did the inspection of the monorail
so I went to the monorail and disarmed the bomb and the monorail blowup then I loaded back
before I went to the monorail and disarmed the second way
and it still blowup

it that is, nothing we can do?

I always wondered if you can use the Monorail if you save it, never tried. But still, Freeside is one of the only places where i get attacked :P

When you deal with the spy, head straight for the Monorail to disarm the bomb. Do not report to Colonel Hsu first or it will be too late.

You guys seem pretty doing wrong how to disarm bomb with monorail.

Let me tell you explain with this quest. First when you start quest, speak to Captain Curtis then Boyd. She give to you radio control tower's key.

Wait until Midnigth(about 1 A.M.) then you will notice Captain Curtis entered radio control tower(Do not see you). Use sneaky or use stealth boy enter the radio control tower(do not see you) and wait until he says about "charge set with bomb".

Kill Captain Curtis and search his loot( get disarm code). Now, go to Monorail Station as run fast possible(Do not report to Colonel James Hsu). Once you arrive monorail station, enter the monorail car and disarm bomb(you will notice mark)

with your skill or use disarm code. Once sucess disarm bomb, report to Colonel Hsu and quest is complet.

You don't need to kill the spy either, i always just run to the monorail after he finishes the report.

From my understanding if you kill him ,the monorail will blow up, if you don't you can get there in time. I've only done it twice, and reported to Hsu both times but in my current (House) PT I confronted him and killed him.

I have Boone with me but I do most of the shooting and we always take the spy out. I loot him for the code and then we sprint for the Monorail and make it and disarm the bomb. It helps you go faster if you unequip your weapon too but holstering it is probably enough.

Thanks a lot Mr. Kim - I did exactly how you described BUT - I can't report to Hsu.... he always has the same talking than before, I can't tell him I disarmed. Any idea of what to do there?
